i was just wondering, in order to get more battery life out of my nexus, i was thinking on leaving "syncing" off as i dont really recieve important emails. would turing off syncing disrupt my "google plus" app? i dont mind manually refreshing when i open it up. but i need the "messenger" of google plus to continue to send me push notifications. or should i just leave syncing on and go into individual apps and lengthen the sync intervals?
edit: cant change gmail sync intervals. hmmm

Syncing off is fine and should save you battery. you can do manual syncs.

Gmail doesn't sync. It uses push similar to how you get a text message so you don't need to change anything in gmail to save battery.

Correct - push uses very little battery.

That being said, it does use SOME battery even though chances are, it won't be a measurable difference. But if there's any Google features that you know for sure you won't be using, might as well turn them off.
