Anyone actually getting 5g UC with tombile on their unlocked s22s?

I haven't got it on my phone yet not sure if this is something I have to set up in the settings but.... Unfortunately T-Mobile branded phones are picking up 5G UC unlock versions aren't.

I do get it with my pixel 6 pro but have my Att sim in my s22u Note

Is this controlled testing where you have both versions side by side?

I'm not sure what "versions" you are referring to. This was/is in locations that I go to regularly and am familiar with connections and speeds. I first noticed the 5guc on my s21 plus (and verified on my wife's s21 plus). Now that we have the s22U the 5guc is working in the same locations on both phones.

These were not controlled tests by any stretch of the imagination, they are anecdotal observations made in areas that I have gone to for many years and I know the type of connections I expect and speeds from extensive experience. And yes, I'm a little anal about checking connection speeds in areas that I go to.

I haven't seen it yet on my unlocked S22 Ultra in the same places I do see it on my Pixel 6.

Huh?

I was referencing the OP in which they were experiencing the opposite issue.

Seriously? You didn't provide nearly enough info in your OP, so I just asked for clarification, because you know people try to assist others?
I asked if anyone on the T-Mobile network getting 5G UC on their S22s (Unlocked) because the T-Mobile branded of the s22s are getting 5g UC.

I'm not sure what other information I left out or needs to be added

Yes I got that part, but it's meaningless without more context. Were you able to test an unlocked and a T-Mobile device side by side in the same location at around the same time to arrive at these results? Or are you just saying that you've heard that other people with a T-Mobile S22U in general, are able to receive 5G UC? There are lots of factors that come into play here. Just trying to help you debug.

Ok, gotcha! My wife and I are both using unlocked s22 ultras on TMO. I have seen 5guc but I will have to do some driving around to test some known locations and will post the results in a couple of days.

Yeah I haven't seen it on my phone yet well not the icon at least.. I've seen it on my iPhone and my wife's unlocked s20FE .

I had my iPhone and my s22 side by side, iPhone was picking up the 5g uc my s22 wasn't

There could be a variety of factors. When you have the iPhone and S22 side by side and only the former is showing 5G UC, it could just be that the network switching algorithms are different for different phones (e.g. the radio in the S22 may be less eager to switch networks even when available, to save battery for example). Make sure you have the latest update. Or... there were reports that the cellular radio in the S22 is actually weaker than the radios in other phones (but can hold onto weak signals better), so this can be the reason as well. Or, the unlocked version just may not be optimized to the degree that the T-Mobile version of the S22 is. Or, you may have a defective unit.

If you can somehow get a hold of another unlocked S22 and also a T-Mobile version to test side by side, you'll know for sure. If not, try to go into more areas where you know there is T-Mobile 5G UC. If you're still not getting anything, exchange for another one for your peace of mind, at least you know you tried.

Even though I've not seen the UC icon on my unlocked S22 Ultra on TMo, I am getting better speeds than I do on my Pixel 6 with the icon.

Just have to ask again to be absolutely sure, but was it definitive that "5G UC" ever showed up on the unlocked S22? I had to ask since "5G UC" is T-Mobile-specific terminology. I believe Verizon and ATT have their own verbiage for their fast 5G network. Unless the unlocked firmware has the "UC" part coded as one of the network options to display on the screen, the unlocked phone may just generically display "5G" for any 5G connection it's using (slow or fast). Which might explain why some people are getting faster speeds even if "UC" isn't showing; T-Mobile's UC is actually being used.

Me too- I actually hit 1.1GBS down and my P6P only gets around 800 at the same spot.

Mine aren't that good. The highest I've hit on my Ultra was the low 400's. That beats anything else I've seen this far on TMo. And it's faster than I see on my AT&T iPhone 13 Pro.
