T-Mobile: Galaxy Note 9 Pre-Order Thread

OK I just completed my pre-order, and it took over three hours on Twitter due to all the delays! I paid $82 + $15 for 2 day shipping plus some taxes for a grand total of $102.82.

To those of you who were asked to pay $279, try specifically mentioning the $82 down payment with $40 monthly payments. A lot of reps seem to be unaware of this option until they are told it exists.

Are you on JOD and 3+ yrs with Tmo?

Personally never a fan of all these carrier plans, I like a carrier who lets me bring my own device and still most carrier features work. T-Mobile is still the best in this regard and has the best cost unlimited option, great coverage where I'm. I can see why jump customers are angry but personally zero issues with them as long as I can bring in my non carrier unlocked phone and use without any issues. Basically I want a dumb pipe and T-Mobile fills that role the best when everything considered.

I would almost be better off paying off my lease phone and buying it out and trading it in for the $500 off. It would pretty much be a wash since I basically owe $480 for the lease and pay off.

I checked with them on this very option. Even WITH $500 off for your trade in you still have to pay the down payment on top of that. At least that's TMobile help on Twitter said... unbelievable.

Yeah I already figured I would still have to pay the down payment but at least I would be in the same boat as everyone not using JoD and not wasting time having worthless JoD.

I was told today that the $82 is only for the jump program, and if you do that then you don't get the $500 trade in credit. So I may have had to pay the large down payment, but my phone will only cost $500.

True but I had been interested in the 512 version, but it's insane to me that with$500 for my trade in I would still have to put$529 down. The only good part of that would be that I would only owe $200 more on the phone

Yeah for that one it's insane either way. At this point I'm leaning towards getting nothing until the end of my lease next year.

I actually feel a little sorry for the people who have to respond to all the complaints from JOD customers on social media. They have no way of giving an answer anyone wants to see. Just give the same copy and paste response about how expensive phones are now and trying to save customers money, which is ridiculous.

yep i said they are acting like we are kids

Well I don't think the reps are doing that. They have to do what T-Mobile tells them to do. I guarantee they don't believe they are "doing you a favor" -- some may -- but most are just telling you what the company said to tell you.

Yeah, they are stuck saying what they are told to. Funny thing is they are now pushing the $82 down payment but making very little mention of the criteria other than well qualified customers.

Not sure how it will work with JOD, but I'm thinking about ordering direct from Samsung for like $50 a month with zero down and yearly upgrades. If I didn't have 7 lines I would consider switching to Verizon. I've been having a lot of coverage issues in the rural areas I frequent and it's getting frustrating.

There are a lot more replies in t mobile than the others. Look...JOD is good for people who can afford it and get tired of having the same phone for a year or more. it's not perfect...but still...alot of other carries...to get their plans cheap...u have to stick with same phone for 2 years or buy it outright. JOD used to be better.. bc u could walk in and out of a T-Mobile store and pay nothing. but...I am sure TMobile lost their *** in it...so they had to adjust it. if u have been with TMobile for over 3 years....and have good credit with them...like always paying on time and such...u can get it for the $81 down and 40 a month. Yes it costs. But u can change phones (not that u would want to) in 30 days if you wish.....and only be out the $81 bucks. No other carrier that I know of....u can do this. My parents...who don't care about having a new phone..have a cheap plan ...but only upgrade phone's every 3 or 4 years and buy whatever is on special....so they can get it cheap. There are many different carriers and plans and if those of us who wish to swap phones out alot...u have to pay for that privelege. It did cost me 25 bucks for overnight shipping FYI.

I guess I am trying to see the bright side of this down payment. Yes I ended up paying $360 (after taxes) but I was able to trade in an old S7 for a $500 credit so the phone is only going to cost me $500 and I only have $220 of that left to pay....

TMobile isn't specifying to us there's an option for $82 down, even myself I expected to leave $280 + tax to pre-order until the sales rep told me

Very true. I don't have JOD, just JUMP(once a year) which is something that you can do at some other carriers. I can actually understand a down payment for JOD because, as you said, they we're losing money on it. But these down payments for just "regular" upgrades are inexcusable when none of their competitors are charging them.

I pre-ordered (JOD) a blue Note9 at midnight last night. My down payment was about $88.00. I can't wait for the blue beast!!!
