T-mobile is claiming they are now 3rd

Right, they are from 2013, but if you read through the posts, they are unlimited unthrottled Uncarrier-era plans. The only thing that has publicly changed is price: these plans are now $80. At that time they were $70.

It is unlimited as in as much as you can use. I have never been throttled in two years and I average about 23 GB per month.

Even back in 2013 on my LG escape I never gotten throttled and I've always been prepaid.

They are claiming they are third even though they are at 55 million and sprint IS at 55.9 but accusing them of having 1.7 inactive subscribers in that number . Of course it's t-mobile trying to make the public one thing but as of now they are still 4th until true numbers say otherwise

I think they mean 3rd as in in speed and in areas they have LTE cuz down here the LTE is almost non existant in some areas and slow as a turle

Yep, throttling: User complaints of T-Mobile LTE speed "throttling" get John Legere's attention » TmoNews

Some are insinuating that customers are subject to throttling once they start reaching high levels of data usage. It must be noted that these are unlimited customers.

What does concern me is the number of Reddit users with the “T-Mobile Employee” flair who claim that T-Mobile does slow people down once they hit a high amount of data. They stop short of calling it “throttling”, instead referring to it as “data prioritization”. Unlimited customers – from what these commenters are suggesting – are bumped down the network priority list once they hit a high amount of data, which is then reset at the beginning of the next billing month.

The article even said they don't.

You mean when TMO says "T-Mobile does not throttle unlimited 4G LTE customers" and that it's just "data prioritization?" If it was indeed "prioritization," how does that explain the slowing down of speeds when these customers hit the 20GB ceiling? Wouldn't the network be strained before then too? See the fail in explanation there?

I'm at 80 GB with no throttle so... Not sure how this ceiling is working so well?

Just did a test now to check.

You must not be in an area where it's needed...yet.

But as you said they throttle on a ceiling so.. It obviously isn't that. I'd love to look at real data versus one guy having a bad time. Since I can be the other side showing I use a ton every month and never see slow speeds.

I'm fine with discussing the possibility.. All networks will do it to manage a packed area and I'm cool with that.. But unlimited doesn't have an invisible ceiling. I've tested it by using 1 TB in a month before and I was never slowed down.

But as you said they throttle on a ceiling so.. It obviously isn't that.

What the article reports is that throttling for these people starts when they hit a "high amount of data." 20GB is then identified in a question as a ceiling point. It's hard to believe the local network gets slammed only when these people are hitting 20GB, and is just fine until they reach 20 or whatever the ceiling is.

Nowhere did I say everyone hitting the ceiling is getting throttled.

It is not just "one guy having a bad time." If you read the article, even employees are confirming the practice on Reddit.

Again, this is not that. That kind of data management should hit people at any point in their data usage, but these people are specifically complaining of throttled speeds starting at a high data consumption usage point continuing until the end of their billing cycle. Even the TMONews blogger makes clear that's not what these people are complaining about:

And there are (at least) two clear topics of conversation in the thread. One of them involves network congestion, which we know is an almost unavoidable downside of living in a highly populated area. Customers will see slower speeds in areas where tons of people are using the same tower/site as them. This topic of conversation doesn’t concern me at all. What does concern me is the number of Reddit users with the “T-Mobile Employee” flair who claim that T-Mobile does slow people down once they hit a high amount of data.

But unlimited doesn't have an invisible ceiling. I've tested it by using 1 TB in a month before and I was never slowed down.

Like I said, you could be in a place where it's not necessary yet. But in places where they are really stressed on backhaul/congestion, this is the way they seem to be going about it.

We can agree to disagree. I am not going to take a post on reddit as that's how it is when majority use whatever and are good :) (including my own usage). The CEO even said he is going to look into it since this shouldn't be the case.

I have three phones on a family plan. My iPhone uses the most. This month, it's at 31GB, and the Note 4 and Note Edge are at 6 between the two. No throttling. I have used as much as 75GB in just one week with no throttling. Been with them for two years and have never been throttled. I don't know anyone who has.

My account is unlimited everything for all phones.

I don't see anywhere in there where it says he personally confirmed it. Again, so many of us are heavy users and have not been throttled.

Do you still have T-Mobile? If not, why is this such a touchy issue for you to keep pointing out? If you no longer have T-Mobile, I think you are wasting your time in this forum and probably should move on to a carrier you actually use. Why waste so much time and energy on a carrier you no longer pay for? OK?

Who's "he?" I said the office of John Legere confirmed it:

3 days ago, I started a thread that caused a lot of buzz around here. Today I got a call from John Legere's office.

There was no resolution. I was just told that until my billing cycle refreshes it will be this way if I'm on a high traffic tower.

You must not be on a high traffic tower that gets slammed, ergo you are not throttled...yet.

Yes, I do have TMO. Been a customer since 2009, actually. Regardless, I wasn't aware that participating in discussions in the TMO sub-forum required me to have service through them. Can you please confirm this AC forum rule?

And am I to take your tone and text emphasis as a pre-ban warning, I guess for pointing out happenings that aren't palatable to some members of this forum?

I would consider many of your posts trolling. I also simply asked if you had T-Mobile service because so many people don't and yet they feel they need to come here bashing a carrier that no longer concerns them.
