T-Mobile LG G3 5.0.1 3/31 LGMobile Support Tool

After the update, noticed I cannot download purchased music from Google Play Music with VoLTE enabled when on the carrier network. Flip on Wi-Fi (leaving VoLTE enabled) and can download music onto my device. I reported this to T-Mobile.

Anyone see this?

Did anyone get the file? If so post it or link to it. So we can all enjoy!!!!

Battery usage is high for location based applications, including T-Mobile My Account and Google Play Services. After going through which apps to disable and prevent loading at startup, and disabling the GPS radio, battery has improved, but this is not desired behavior of what every user should be doing. When I decide next to use Google Maps or Waze, I'll have to manually enable the GPS radio, buried within the location settings.

In Jelly bean 4.2, the location and GPS options remained separate, allowing you to control them better via the notification bar. In KitKat and above, they embedded GPS options into location services. In your notification menu, you will see Location as a selectable option. Disabling it stops all location services, including GPS. Whereas previous versions of Android kept them separate. This change is a nuisance for those who only want their GPS on during certain events and was easily manageable.

No can't see it, I have the white G3. So no update for me. LG in all their infinite wisdom.

I just did it. At first I thought I soft bricked it because it was stuck on the LG boot screen but then it proceeded to optimize all my apps which took a while. I now have it up and running and my biggest issue is that I've had it crash twice. This never happened to me when I was on 4.4.2. The first time I was able to reboot it but the second time I had to pull out the battery. I also noticed that Quiet Mode (LG's Do Not Disturb mode) is gone. I'm really not happy about that but I guess I'll just have to deal with it. I'm still getting used to some of the UI changes but other than those gripes, so far so good.
Edit: I did some searching and found that they replaced Quiet Mode with a do not disturb mode. It replaces silent mode too. You can turn it on from the notification screen by toggling through the sound profiles. The downside of this is that if you want to enable do not disturb but allow alarms and alerts to pass through, you need to turn on priority mode, which you can only do from the settings app and it's 2-3 menus deep. This is not a user friendly design.

So how come no one will let us MAC users in on the secret...that you have to use and only use a WIN machine...this is beyond stupid...no LG Tool available that I can find...Ive used Google to no ends...and to be honest, why is the LG G3 just getting v5.0.1??? Seriously, they really want us to root, don't they, they really do. I mean v5.1 is out and they can't get us on that after waiting? Looks like I have to take the dive into rooting..or wait for the LG G4 and then root that one even though it comes with v5.1 out of the box...

Its rather quite stupid, these game OEM and Google play on us for hundreds of dollars...
If you're a Mac user I have a solution. I use Ubuntu which is a Linux distribution. If you can, get Wine. It's a Windows emulator that completely integrates into your system. At least it is with most all Linux distributions. If you can't find that, download Play on Mac. There's also a Linux version. It's designed for games, but it's a front end for Wine. You can install virtually any Windows program with it.

Just curious, is there a way to backup everything so when you do a factory reset, all you gotta do is restore? I got a ton of apps, saved texts messages, etc and to lose them and have to reinstall each app one by one is a lot of work

Try LG's backup service in the backup & reset option under the personal tab in the settings menu

Running upgrade recovery doesn't actually wipe the phone. It just upgrades you LG G3 to the latest firmware supported by your phone. Unless something goes horribly wrong, once the update is done, assuming you have a Black T-Mobile US LG G3, you will have the same phone with all your data but instead of Kit Kat, it will be running Lollipop. You can also wait until tomorrow and do the OTA update from the phone itself.

I read on XDA there's an LTE bug in the "LGMobile Support Tool" version of LollipopI. The OTA should fix this.

Update: Another forum member posted out much more likely user error and no LTE bug. The OTA versions of the update is identical to the one available from the update tool.

Just installed the update with the LGMobile Support Tool (just google it. I can't post links). It might say you are up to date. But goto >Options >Flash Recovery. That will update you to version D85120b.

Running 5.0.1

wifi calling and VoLTE both working

I finally broke down and installed the LGMobile Support Tool, black version of the G3 .
The USB driver didn't download from the tool so I got that from a link on XDA. After installing a reboot was definitely needed for the phone to be recognized by the tool. It's basically foolproof. I left the microSD card in - and no problems.

I didn't do a factory reset and so far not needed. I charged the phone to 100% and 4 hours later - in do not disturb (formerly quite mode) battery was still at 100%. Interface is snappy. But if anything changes I'll update.

I also used the LG Mobile Support tool. Previously I had connected the G3 to computer, so usb drivers were not an issue. I am glad of doing the update download over my network/pc. 1224.18Mb
The software upgrade went without a hitch, optimizing, updating apps, ok.
Have not had anything that is a 'showstopper' happen.
No overheating, Qi wireless still works, 5.01, LRX21Y. Lollipopped.

There you go. Two in a row without a hitch - factory reset not needed. But of course ymmv.

I downloaded the Lollipop update and everything seems to be working fine overall. I just can't get rid of the My Tmobile Account widget on my lock screen. Anyone have similar problems and figure out a solution? Or have an idea of what to do?

I am having trouble turning on wifi calling. It just says enabling but its not showing the wifi calling symbol

No wifi calling for me either after OTA yesterday. Keep getting ER081 error. 2 hours on the phone with support, no help. They said must be the phone. Also, can't send MMS, keeps saying sending.

I was able to correct the MMS issue by going into the APN settings and tapping the 3 dots on the top right and selecting restore defaults. So far, sending MMS correctly.
