T-Mobile Pre-Order Question and Comment Thread

Is there any reason that we would need to use a NEW SIM card rather than taking the existing SIM from our S7 Edge and putting that nano SIM into the S8+?

i don't understand why there's all this talk about needing a new SIM card all of a sudden here.

thanks for your anticipated clarification.

For people like me coming from Samsung S4 that uses micro Sim.

yeah it might be closer...but in reality might add an extra day to get your phone. Most UPS stores only get a delivery once a day. So if they deliver it to a UPS store at say 3PM....by the time the store employees get it in the system for you to pick it up it might by the next day until it is available.

oh man... i can't keep changing this stuff...

so I have decided, I dont want to risk it sitting at my front door since T-Mobile ships in a black box that says T-Mobile, if it was a plain brown box, i would probably leave it... i have never had a package stolen, but I sure do not want to risk it

The customer center is too far from my house/work for a lunch trip. The UPS Store is perfect distance.

but I dont want to add ANOTHER day of waiting...

i dont know if i will survive this pre-order...

Nope, I"m still using the same sim from I believe my Note 4 and I've had 3 other phones since then and just keep putting it in the new phone.

Whew, correct! @wookiee2cu: i do the same thing. That's why I was momentarily confused when all these good folks are talking about needing a new SIM. Fine, i understand now, the gent/lady who needed the new SIM is coming from a Micro SIM going to the new Nano SIM. Cool, got it. Next! ;)

Hi @Ds Note 2 Sprint:

I'm confused.

Why is there all this thinking and talk about having to "do" something special when we receive our S8/S8+?

For every single phone in the past, I would either use the Samsung Smart Transfer app, and as a result, essentially using NFC to communicate between the old phone and the new phone, and voila, the new phone has virtually all the data of the old phone and will be "sync'd" properly.

Why is this time any different, may I please ask?Con

Confused.

his question was in regards to the Samsung promo (I thought) not transfer of info from phone to phone.

I did receive a SIM card with my order.

I went through the Samsung App to pre-order my Gear VR. It gave me an option for the Gear VR or the "Full Gear VR Experience" which I assumed it was for the headphones + microSD card since it mentioned $99, but I didn't get sent to a payment screen. So I'm guessing that I pay once my claim is reviewed?

PLEASE KEEP US POSTED:)!!! I'm soooo excited for the week to end and I have my phone as well!

At this point, Monday, April 17th, I'm no longer optimistic to receive my S8+ much earlier than the stated ship date of 4/17th in order to aim for a receive date of around 4/20th.

Reason: my UPS tracking number page has been at this "Order Processed: Ready for UPS" stage for many days now - around 4 days, iirc. It really seems to me, by now, that TMobile has no intentions to ship it out much earlier than their originally stated time frame. A day or so earlier, maybe, but much more than that, unlikely, imho.

As such, I'm now lowering my expectations to them ACTUALLY shipping out, i.e. the tracking page changing from Order Processed Ready for UPS to an actual Kentucky first scan, around Tuesday or Wednesday, which translates to delivery around Wed/Thurs, 4/19th or 4/20th.

This would be the equivalent of receiving our pre-ordered phones 1-2 days prior to their stated dates.

No big deal - but not nearly as early as how early TMobile delivered their recent LG top of the line model (2 full weeks earlier than stated!), or how much earlier I received my S7 Edge last year.

:(

Its unfortunate because last year people received the S7 and S7E at least 2 weeks before on T-Mobile I saw a ton of unboxing on YouTube before I received mine on the official release date

Was hoping to have seen many more unboxings by now

Just got charged now we are cooking with grease...movement i should day though i did only just pre-order friday so....lol but still movement

Yes but that changed with the Note 7 and we only got it 1 day prior to official launch day. Rumor was the other carriers complained to Samsung about T-Mobile shipping them (S7) so early, who knows if it's true but I wouldn't be surprised. It does seem like Samusung has come down on the carriers regarding shipping pre-orders early though.

I got an email from my cc company that I have officially been charged for the phone because it was pending initially.

At this rate, I think most people will get their phones between Thursday - Friday

The texts from T-mobile late last week all seemed to indicate shipping starting on 4/18. Nothing really has changed. It was the same time line with the Note7 release.
Of course, there's always the lucky few who get theirs before the masses.

What time is the Louisville Kentucky T-Mobile warehouse open till and what's the latest they issue tracking number?

The UPS guy was about to hand it over and then stopped and said the package was intercepted. He had to call the HUB and they assumed it was just a mix up. Long story short I got my phone

Was there headphones in the package? If so, what ones?
