Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5. Froze while streaming a video.

Screen frozen, none of the buttons function. Screen does not go off.

Any solutions? Don't want to do a factory hard reset as I don't want to loose data?

What if I wait until the battery dies?

I'll wait until the battery drains... It was at 91% charge. The clock on the screen has it frozen at 9:27, almost 3.5 hours ago.
At least I can test the battery and see how long it lasts with the screen constantly on.

I don't know the sensor location but you could take a magnet and run it around the screen and see if that will trigger Standby/Sleep mode. Then remove and see if it awakens. Probably a long shot.

After about eight hours the battery didn't die. Got frustrated... continued looking at multiple forums. Found that someone managed a reboot on a Tab2 with combination of volume and power hold for 10 seconds.

Well it worked... Volume down, then power button hold for 10+ seconds and the unit rebooted.

BTW: still got 19% battery power after the screen has been on for 9 hours with an original charge of 91%.

This exacr same thing happened to mine a few weeks back! I was cracking up, good to know how to reboot it should it happen again.

This is definitely the best place to learn new things and discover something you thought you knew but didn't. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

My galaxy tab s with an unofficial release of cyanogenmod froze on the lockscreen after i changed something in the accessibility settings
Stayed froze alllllllll night. Holding down the power and vol down worked!
Thanks for the info!

Mine froze this morning, thx forum members for posting the reboot fix, would have taken all day to run the battery down.

Don't know what it is about Android central, but when I tried this before reading this, it didn't work. Afterwards, even having thought "well I've done that already" , it worked and rebooted.

I have had freezes too. The first time was when I wanted exit from a game that my daughter was playing.
Why does it freeze? Memory problem?
