Taking good hd video?

So I have been playing with my settings to shoot 720p and it always comes out grainy. I am using mikg rom and whatever kernel goes with that. Any suggestions on what the hd settings need to be to record good quality.

I don't use the MIKG ROM but I know some ROMs have better video recording than others. Have you tried using another ROM or switching to a different video quality and seeing if the graininess is there?
