Yes, you will be able to keep the Smartpak plan and have the Thunderbolt. If you go to a store to purchase they may have to call Customer Service to assist with the activation.

So basically retail store will take the info from the SIM that comes with the unit and have it registered since you don't do *228? Hopefully they will write it down because I am not activating it there.

Since you aren't activating there you may have to accept the terms of the new contracts in the store then activate over the phone with Customer Care later. I would ask the store because the process I use is different since I ship customers phones. I'm sure it can be done. I assist customers with this process occasionally. Sometimes people buy a phone a gift to give someone later. In this case when you accept contract terms through our automated phone system at the end of the call after accepting the terms it states " to activate your phone now press 1, to activate later press 2. When you press 2 the contract is still extended but the old phone is still active until you swap the phone with customer care.

whaaaaat? i hate to sound redundant, but did you just read that my current plan of talk+unlimited text/picture text, and unlimited date can transfer to the TB?

*disclaimer: my current phone is not a smart phone (envy2), does this apply? btw, the TB is my first ever smart phone.

You may have to do the same thing I'm going to have to do if mine drops. I switched my wife to a smartphone from a feature phone and the promo disappeared. I had to call customer service to ask for it back because it didn't change, but the code changed apparently. They gave it back to me though.

My original post was referring to a limited time promotion that discounted the $29.99 unlimited data plan to $9.99. If you had this promotion than you can still use this pricing for the Thunderbolt. If you currently have a $29.99 data plan on the enV 2 than it can be used on the Thunderbolt for unlimited data.

Oh Jtron, I think I found the proper number. I was thinking about calling tomorrow to let them know my concern ahead of time. Unless you don't think that will really make a difference. I don't want to waste anyone's time.

If you want to call you can. It might make more sense to call after you activate so we can correct any promotions that may have fallen off.

thanks for the info., Jtron. it appears i'm SOL, i can't tell if my unlimited data plan was from the promo of $29.99 for $9.99. i guess it doesn't hurt if i call VZW to verify if my current unlimited data would apply to what you've mentioned.

Thanks for the info Jtron! Heading in first thing tomorrow morning to a corporate store to pickup a new phone.

Another question, the talk/text plan was only good for a year when offered to me (ends in Nov). Will this extend the current deal for another two years?

jtron Im 13months on one phone main line am I able to still to do the annual upgrade on a 2year deal?

The promo is good forever as long as you don't change your plan. Like when I went into the Verizon store to ask them about the promo they said that the computer said the promo was scheduled for November 9, 2010, to November 9, 2038. Now I would expect to live longer than 28 years as I'm only 28 now, but you get the idea.

As long as your plan doesn't change, the promo doesn't leave.

Good news everyone. I just got off of the phone with Verizon regarding the TT+D promotion and they said if you have an unlimited data plan now (regardless of if it's a feature phone, smartphone, iPhone, or BlackBerry data plan) and stay with an unlimited data plan that it should be a smooth transition.

They said that there was such a huge issue with the promo falling off with the iPhone release that they were prepared for it and they should already have a technical fix in place, but if not it's really easy to fix after the fact.

Not sure. On 1/16/11 the annual upgrade program went away. You may want to call customer service and ask.

Jtron, I have an old alltel smartphone data plan. Can I renew my contract to a 1 year instead of a 2 year? Thanks!

I think its called SmartPlan 500 or something like that. It doesnt matter as i HAVE to get a 2 year tomorrow because im using my annual upgrade.

Yes, the Smartpak plan will be comatible with the Thunderbolt. Sorry it took so long to reply, I can usually only check my phone on breaks. I did get to play with a working unit today! I am so staying up late to order this phone! No word yet on 1 year pricing. We should know tomorrow.
