Tempered glass screen protector recommendation.

I have a Zagg that I installed myself and have had no major issues. Zagg has a great guarantee. My first one had a slight rainbow haze under the screen protector that would come and go. I emailed them and they sent me a free replacement at no cost whatsoever. The new one installed perfectly but I unfortunately dropped my phone and the screen protector cracked (but no damage to the phone). I put in a warranty claim and got another new one for $9.99 shipping and handling. The newest one has been installed for 2 weeks and I have no issues at all. The installation for Zagg is really quite easy!!!
And I have had no screen sensitivity issues at all with all three Zaggs.

That's great to hear!

For what it's worth -
I just installed this one because it got great reviews...

Seemed to go on well. Looks good. My case doesn't push on it so I don't expect it will lift. Time will tell. The whole protector seems to stick - not just the edges. I should mention I don't know much about glass screen protectors - never used one before.

Update: so after using for a while, I am finding that the screen response is affected. Not sure I will keep it.

Woot, just an update, the wifey ended up getting me the dome protector. Now to watch a bunch of videos. Anyone got some tips, let me know

Make sure to put some solid weight on it for an hour or two after install. Helps with the adhesive. I put it upside down on a clean table with something of weight on top of it. Not too heavy though.

Andrew can you easily clean off the adhesive if he overflows onto the side of the phone. Is the glue sticky, do you have to clean it right away?

It is just so hit and miss with screen protectors, been through a few and so far the Vigeer was the best looking but Techmatte the best overall.
Naked on my second Note since I got it even if I have a few different ones new in the box

Hit or Miss is the key term with N8 protectors.
We just need a great solution, reasonably priced, that works for most buyers.
Hope this happens!

How would you explain the hit or miss of any screen protector, if it weren't for the way it was installed?

Perhaps, a higher percentage of these products are defective out of the box and can't be installed correctly? This would seem unlikely, don’t you think?

Again, while we both have successfully installed many protectors on flat screens, it isn't as simple with a curved edge screen. That's why the manufacturers try to make it easier by providing mounting frames, but for some of us that doesn't guarantee a perfect installation. (You don't see these mounting frames with flat screen protectors, which generally are easier installs.)

Maybe more detailed instructions with the protector would help, in addition to the frame. For example. the guy at Verizon, who correctly installed my Zagg, told me that pressing outward on the flat portion of the protector, before pressing down on the adhesive edges, is key to getting a close fit without sensitivity problems. This should have been explicitly stated in the Zagg instructions, but wasn't. In fact the instructions that came with the Zagg were mostly pictorial.

However, even with detailed instructions, there would still be a lot of people messing up, because they just don't read them. They think they don't have to, having done it right before with easier to install flat screen protectors.

For many of us, it is just simpler to get someone to do this who knows what they are doing, rather than doing it yourself.

Just got done with installing the dome glass screen protector. I can unequivocally say, this is probably the best glass screen protector out there. Installation was very easy. Opening the package and seeing what it came with was a bit intimidating. I can appreciate why this screen protector is priced at this price point. It's by far the best and probably the only screen protector I will be using to protect my note 8. For those who are leaning on the edge, I would say go for it. It doesn't feel like there is a glass protector on it. Sensitivity is solid and it feels great.

While you are are entitled to your opinion, I don't understand how you can claim that the Whitestone Dome is unequivocally the best protector out there, when it is the only one you tried. If you are happy with it, great. You don't need to try any others, just like I don't have to try a Whitestone because I am perfectly happy with my Zagg.

Furthermore, the Whitestone isn't perfect. It not being case friendly could be a deal breaker for those who only feel safe with the Outer Box Defender case, since the Whitestone won't work with it. For you, it isn't an issue.

Others have had problems with the glue changing and the screen lifting, only 2 months after they did what they thought was a perfect install. Maybe or probably they didn't do the install correctly. because, so far, very few are having
this problem. But these same few extolled how wonderful the Whitestone was when they first installed it.

What isn't so wonderful about the Whitestone is you need to buy another if it breaks or if you didn't install it right. Most of the other protectors come with some kind of warranty, at least a limited one.

Having said all of this, I hope you continue to be happy with your Whitestone. More importantly, may we all never drop our phones to prove how well these protectors work and which one is really best.

I agree with you 100%. And it's really not that difficult to install if you watch the videos first.

Well I am not happy with Whitestone. Since last 3 days I noticed that while writing notes on part of the screen the intensity of my handwriting was lighter.... Today I just can't write on that part of the screen which clearly shows that it's coming off. I had fixed it perfectly and there were no issues for the last month. Need to buy a new one now

Some cases aren't compatible with it, would cause it to lift. If you have no case, then it's definitely weird... Contact their warranty - it seems like a defect, they would replace it

Good to get input from everyone buying glass protectors.

As I've said in each one of these threads:

"I'll just wait for a product that works for the majority of people that buy it"

Here's hoping that this will occur within the lifetime of this device!

I too am afraid issues might appear as I've read it happening to many other users. I'm currently rocking a very slim case at the moment. The case doesn't touch the screen and it's been a day with this glass. I'll let you guys know how it goes. I've also read customer service is really good and is willing to send you a replacement if a defect is apparent.

I would really like to know those who are using the Zagg tempered glass screen protector. I see best buy is selling it for as much as the Whitestone and the kiosk is selling it for 60 with 10 dollar install. Being this pricey, how is it holding up? Im planning to purchased another protector just as a backup. What have been your experience after several days or months of use?

Lastly, is there an offbrand we haven't explored? I've purchased three generic glass protector on Amazon with bad results.

Would love to use this thread to filter out the good from the bad, based off real life user experience.

For 60 quid you would get 6 other ones and a fair good chance the install would go well within 2 or 3 and last well, plus what you have left for down the line replacement

I don't think there is any sure way of filtering out the good from the bad, Even with a good initial review, only time will tell how well it holds up.

Price doesn't guarantee performance, so I would check out cheaper options, first. A lot of them have some good reviews and some bad ones. In the end, what's best for you isn't necessarily going to be best for others. To a certain extent it is a crap shoot. Even with the same protector, unless everything lines up for you, maybe including the stars, you may not install it right the first time you try. You may think you did and think the protector sucks, but the guy who lucks out with first attempt will love it. That's why if you are going to try to do it yourself, you should try those that give you a few protectors in the package, or at least gurantee a replacement should you screw up.

Well worded baby_doc
I'll still recommend the Vigeer even if my first one was lacking proper adhesive, I only enquired if they could provide new adhesive or recommend what to use and they sent me not 1 but 2 new ones, ok the extra one was probably because there was quite a delay in sending replacement but great customer service.
