Tempted By HTC 10?

I've had the M7 and M9 and this 6P doesn't feel any less premium than those did in my experience. I haven't held a 10 yet but even if I did I am not spending $1,000 on a phone.

why 1000$?

I had the 6P and loved it. Was wooed by the 10 so I grabbed one and sold the 6P. Loved the 10 but missed the 6P, so I returned the 10 and purchased another 6P. Now as I sit here this morning, I love the 6P but miss the 10. I'm actually consumed by this decision and it's no good. I may just upgrade my line with another 10, keep both and take the hit. It's absolutely ridiculous.

LMAO, you have me cracking up over here. I also have both. My 6p is paid for and the 10 is half paid for. Here are the tough decisions for me. 1) the HTC 10 camera just can't hold a candle to the Nexus 6p. And, honestly that pisses me off because reviewers are acting like HTC has finally arrived, but no. The camera still over exposes and lacks the color punch and detail of the 6p or any other current flagship camera. 2) “OK Google” will not work from screen off. 3) Boomsound speaker set up sucks. My finger covers the bottom speaker and it's a drag to workaround it. 4) boomsound speakers aren't nearly as loud as the Nexus 6p albeit they have better fidelity. 5) the Nexus 6p simply can't compete in the audio area with the exception of the stereo speakers. 6) yes the 6p has a bigger screen but it's not more pretty than the 10, not even close. The 6p has a yellow tint in comparison. Both devices are fast and smooth and you can really feel the power of the 820 soc here. However, I do notice a tiny bit of stutter when the device is downloading from the play store. 7) the build quality of the 10 certainly trumps the 6p, but only because we know that the 6p will bend and break with the right amount of pressure. You wouldn't look at either phone and assume one is more flimsily made than the other, but knowing that one is definitely affects your opinion.

So, I'm forced to decide which is more important to me... Camera or music? And, it's truly a difficult decision because I absolutely use the music player more often than the camera, but I absolutely abhor going for my camera to take a quick reliable shot and it won't focus or the picture looks like crap.
My hope is that Google will let HTC do their thing with their next Nexus device but that they absolutely block HTC from having any camera engineering input. Please Google, give them all the specs to follow with no wiggle room in the camera Dept. HTC just can't do camera. I wouldn't complain about this camera on the 10 if it came out two years ago, but it simply can't cut the mustard with the latest crop of flagships let alone the Nexus 6p.

Does your HTC have all updates? How does the display compare with the 6P outdoors? Why you say that the build quality is better just because we know that the 6P bends? How does the HTC feels in the hand compared to the 6P?

I believe I have all of the updates, but I really don't know which software version I should have. My version is 1.21.531.1. When I'm using the 10 outdoors, I actually feel that I'm getting a better view than with the 6p. The color shifts to a more metallic tint which seems to work quite well without sunglasses. When I speak about the build quality of the 6p, that's contextual because I've seen nearly every YouTube video made about the 6p, including the jerryrigeverything videos part l and ll.
Plus, HTC built a really solid device in the 10. The HTC is considerably more comfortable to hold. I have large hands, but I still needed to shrink my keyboard to type with one hand on the 6p. I don't have to do that with the HTC. I can comfortably use the full keyboard with one hand.

I do think overall build quality is better with HTC over the 6p. Can't wait to see what the Nexus would be all about later this year...

I've been tempted to make the switch only because I can't stand the random static pops I get while listening to music on Bluetooth with my Nexus 6P. I even installed Android N and the issue still exists.

After watching a 10 review, the change on the BoomSound speaker setup and mediocre battery disappointed me.

Held the HTC 10, put back down, grab my 6P from my rear pocket, smiled and left the store.

Today I wanted to reset my Nexus 6P to its defaults, to prepare it for sale, but I felt I didn't want to do that. I really like the HTC 10, but the Nexus is just too good to stop using. I changed my mind. I will keep the Nexus 6P, at least for the next months.

I seem to be stuck in a similar position as many of you guys... my 6P has been nothing but stellar since I got it back in October but the HTC 10 (being new and shiny) is sorely tempting. My main reason for being tempted to try it out is because my Galaxy S7 is rather annoying... it has a superb camera and is very quick but suffers from the flaw of having a terrible fingerprint sensor and a glass back (feels nice in hand, but worries me with its fragility). I could probably deal with the downgrade in the camera department if the fingerprint sensor was as good as the 6P's but I'm not too convinced it's going to be worth it overall. First world problems, eh?

Don't do it. Wait for the NEW Nexus if you have too which will be made by HTC

Just wait for the HTC Nexus in a few months, you get the build quality you like plus the Nexus experience.

I came so close to pulling the trigger on a HTC 10 but at the end of the day my 6P does everything I need it to do and I really don't have a reason to get anything else right now. Although for what it's worth I am still considering getting my wife an HTC 10. Currently she has a Samsung S6 and the battery is just garbage. She has to charge her phone constantly all day just to make it through. We even got her a battery case and even with the extra 3500mah battery it still doesn't quite make it through a whole day. Sure that phone has a great camera and lots of other cool features (that she never actually uses) but I think the HTC 10 will be a huge improvement.

I can`t even think of a reason to look at the HTC 10. My 6P is still ,in my opinion, the best overall Android phone you can buy. It just does everything so well. There are a few phones out there which in some areas will be better than my 6P but as a total package, using as a phone, the camera, music, browsing and apps ,for me it is spot on.This is the first phone that I`ve ever bought and I was a bit worried to do so as I`ve always had carrier phones but my 6P is easily the best. The only phone which may replace it will be the next Nexus device but only if it were to massively improve on what I already have.

I have both phones and there are some areas where the 10 kills the 6p. The screen on the 10 is just way better to look at, not as big but renders much nicer colors, especially whiter whites. The Nexus 6p looks dingy in comparison. The Bluetooth connectivity seems to be much better on the 10 as well. You get greater distance between the phone and the Bluetooth device. I'm not one to wear sunglasses and I found that when I took to taking pictures outside in daylight the 10 screen was easily visible where the 6p was downright ridiculous. Although the front facing speakers are louder on the 6p, the fidelity of the 10 at the same volume levels trumps the 6p easily. And, the biggest difference is the audio reproduction through headphone jacks and Bluetooth. Nexus ought to be ashamed of themselves after listening to music through the 10. Lol!

On the other hand, there's no ”OK Google“ from a blank screen on the 10. The Nexus 6p's camera is heads and shoulders better than the pre updated 10 (what I have from T-Mobile). The Nexus UI is smoother and it never gets as warm to the touch as the 10.

The HTC 10 sounds better through Bluetooth? I primarily use my phone as a music player in my car and the 6P leaves a lot to be desired.

On the other hand, I don't want a non Nexus just because of that... it's just tempting!

Got a link to that review? My HTC 10 battery is great. Mediocre battery? What on earth is he comparing it to? As far as the BoomSound goes you get more bass at the expense of the defined stereo separation of say the M8. It still sound good though.
