TERRIBLE battery life after Marshmallow

My nexus 5 seemed good at the start after updating. But now I charge twice a day. If I go to bed with 100% in the evening, there are about 44% in the morning.
I had a night when my Nexus lost power while it was sleeping and when I looked it was Exchange Services that had been busy. I'm guessing it was updating apps but I don't know.

Sometimes newer is not better.I have KitKat and I have a battery life of 3 days. Using the phone all the time.

Sometimes newer isn't better. Android 6.0 is better, in my opinion, than Android 4.4.4. My Nexus 5 lasts me all day and since I never go three days without encountering a working electrical outlet a three-day period is irrelevant. Oh, and if we have a cataclysmic earthquake I have a power pack that will charge my phone at least twice.

My battery life has at least doubled, so much better I have now shelved my note 4 and went back to my N5 as my daily driver. Now if we could just get wifi calling it would be the bomb.

Any idea where to buy a brand new n5? I checked amazon but it seems theyre selling refurb but branded as new

I hope you guys can help. Over doze, I got crazy good life. Well, it looks like when it wakes up and does something with the Android system, it's dead. This is a clean install, not an upgrade. Here are some pics:

Might I suggest clearing the cache (in Settings -> USB & Storage), then boot to recovery and do a cache wipe?

I had this issue before in KK and LP (N4) where it would not want to charge past about 90% -- turns out something was mis-reporting the battery stats. One quick cache wipe and I was down from 90% to about 72%, but after that the battery charged and discharged properly.

I just got a brand new one from Amazon that delivered yesterday for $188 and free shipping. Ordered Friday night and they said it wouldn't show until Nov 4th. Guess they tell you that to encourage spending $15 for expedited shipping. I like everything about it except the reception is really bad compared to my N6 & G4. It's so bad I can't get a signal in my office. I'll try switching to 2G like someone else in the forum mentioned, but I don't have high hopes. I should have read a little more in this forum because its known for crappy reception. If it only had wifi calling.... oh well. It might be going back.

Something's rotten in Mountain View. Doze is completely ineffective on my N5. On a table overnight the phone loses 35% of its total battery, mostly to WiFi. I remember in the early days I might lose 5% overnight. I suspect some unidentifiable app is misbehaving (although I have cleaned the phone to bare bones, app-wise) or just the fact that the battery is almost two years old.

Ain't no thing, I'll just keep it plugged in overnight and when it finally dies, get another Nexus.

I just installed a new battery in mine. I had noticed the WiFi issue previously too. Wifi had taken 47% of my battery overnight...whaaat. We'll see if this new battery helps at all. Thinking of clearing cache, too.

Hopefully it's just a Marshmallow bug.

I had the same issue, I found out it was the "Always Scanning" setting for location services. I turned it off, and wiped the cache. After I turned the phone on, then the setting on again, WiFi stopped killing my battery. Now, Doze works for me, but screen on time is still pretty bad, worse than what it was before M.

So I turned off, "OK Google" voice detection on at all times, and Screen On Time had significantly improved.

Where did you get a battery? I installed a new one, and it is GARBAGE.

Count me in on this thread. Granted, I did get my Nexus 5 used, but Screen on Time is horrible. Doze works perfectly fine, but using the phone kills it extremely quick, 1% a min (if that). I have the latest Marshmallow with the April security patch. I just flashed the phone manually (OTA was taking too long) 2 days ago.

Any follow ups to this thread? What is the average SOT for people with MOB30H? I MIGHT get 3 hours of SOT. I like using Google Now, but it seems Google's services are killing my phone. When I browse the net or use the phone (on Straight Talk AT&T LTE) the battery might last 2 hours tops, 3 hours with wifi.
