Terrible battery life on BACKside rom?

Here is what I have today:

I don't know why it cut off the first few hours of the day, it has been unplugged from 100% for more like 7 1/2 hours.

I don't want a spare battery to have to carry but I think the stock battery is awfully small I am thinking about getting that double size one with the big battery panel

Eh, just be mindful of what you have running in the background. Facebook and Twitter only refresh every 4 hrs (everything else, including all Google apps are autosynced), I make sure to shut off that god-awful Facebook chat when I boot, but leave Google Talk running in the background at all times. Processor is set at 480/806 on-demand.

To be fair, normally I get 14-18 hours of life, but the car I just purchased doesn't have an auxiliary input, so I'm not streaming music on the drive to and from work right now. That alone can kill between 5-10% per hour, depending on the source. Poor network reception doesn't help either, I was in rural Ohio for Indy cars over the weekend, and was only getting 6 hours out of a charge, which was comparable to what my friend and my brother were getting with their phones (an iPhone 3GS and a Pre).

A couple of more battery use graphs from me, for those who are curious what this ROM is capable of. Everyone's usage differs, this is just mine:

I'm a light user, checking webpages once in a while., with occasional SMS & phone call. I have 3G data turned off unless I'm actively using it. Ondemand governor 245-600 Mhz. In the first graph, the steep drops were from using GPS navigation.

I get pretty terrible battery life on BACKside as well. Fully charged when I leave the house, 20-25 minutes of playing music from the SD card, then 6 hours of light use with WiFi and 3G off, texting only, really, however I am inside a building and sometimes it's hard to get a signal. By the time I get in my truck to go home, I'm usually around 13-20% left. I'm sure the poor signal has something to do with it, but it still seems like an excessive drain to me. Making me wonder if I really have any reason to want to be on GB as opposed to Froyo.

I would suggest installing the "Watchdog Task Manager Lite" app, it'll alert you of any apps that drains the battery more than usual. Then uninstall or disable the CPU polling in the settings when you don't need it anymore, itself runs a service in the background that monitors usage.

I've been getting 15-20 hours the last 4 days with my BACKside ROM. the newest version.

heres my settings.

Facebook set to update manually with no notifications. If I want to know my friends updates, ill open the app and find it.

twitter, manual refresh on the widget, it never checks for updates until I tell it to.

gmail is push, and I have a LOT of accounts linked to my phone.

nothing else I have syncs online.

brightness control is my notification bar. i slide my finger across is to raise and lower the brightness. i keep it at minimum until I need to check something or when im using it in the sun.

i have it set so if I Long-Press the Back button, the app currently open gets killed completely, not just closed. this is good to keep processes from staying open.

i usually end facebook and other apps this way, but not the browser or maps, until im completely done using them.

im not a social networking maniac, but i do a LOT of music off youtube, and a lot of watching stuff on netflix over 3G. a lot of web browsing

ive gotten the best battery life by forcing apps i know i wont open for awhile to completely close.

settings>applications>development>stop app via long press its that simple

I like that option but I seem to always end a app on accident. The phone would just stutter for a second and bam Ive closed the app and the dang launcher.

takes some practice to know when to let go of the button, good to know though. its like learning how to hover over on screen buttons to avoid pressing those accidentilly all the time

my battery life is only slightly slightly lower than when I was on AOSPCM7.

but i wouldnt trade a gingerbread rom for a froyo rom ever, ever again.

I get a consistant 7 to 9 hours of use before my battery is dead. but im the kind of person whos phone is pretty much on 24/7 if im not browsing the internet, im listening to music (phone is my ipod) or watching youtube or netflix. or texting like mad. seriously my phone never stays idle for more than 20 minutes. its being used like crazy.

I guess my battery life its fine then on IHO. Love the ROM. Works great.

Man.. I hate all you guys with your battery life.. there is something seriously wrong with either my install.. my phone.. my battery.. or all of them.. with just internet usage and a few social apps, and email.. after 4 hours.. not constant mind you.. of doing this on my phone.. I drop down to about 25-30 percent battery life...

Make sure GPS is completely off, remove any animated wallpaper.
Also, Facebook is a battery killer and I believe that wifi uses more power too. I know it is when idle.

Turn your brightness down below half, which is fine indoors usually. You can set this on a switch on the drop down or set it so you slide across the status bar to change brightness. The lower it is, the better.

GPS always off. I don't use Facebook. Wifi is also off. I always have brightness at 25 percent and I use night mode rendering when not at home. No animated wallpaper, solid black. I also use Juice Defender. Light usage while away from home, drains my batter to 40 percent in about 3 hours.

You need to nail down what is eating that juice, if it's due to no service, try turning of off when in those areas if you are there that often.

I tried the smartass governor today and battery life seemed worse. I always use interactive on 806-600 and battery life is great. Im running mrg666's build though but its still IHO. Just saying.
