I've been wondering lately if AT&T would detect tethering if i was to use enable tethering on my Skyrocket and tether to another Android device, specifically a tablet.

I got caught tethering last year when i used to tether my iPhone and my laptop but i think now it would be different.
What do you guys think? I'm thinking that at&t wouldn't be able to detect the tethering but i might be wrong.

Please let me know what you think or if you have done it :)

I think they will know if they want to know. I tether for free with vzw occasionally, just a few hundred megs a time and haven't got warned about it. But I know vzw could tell if they cared. Given at&ts actions lately I bet they look for people that tether without paying. I would still do it with at&t, just limit the usage so hopefully it would go unnoticed. Plus tethering an android phone to a android tablet would be less noticeable to their systems I would think.

yeah , i would not tether with a PC (laptop) like i used to. They detected the tethering after a couple of months and i had to call them telling them that i will stop tethering if i wanted to keep my unlimited plan.
I think tethering one android device to another would be less noticeable since they are both using the same browser and do not check for windows updates. Even if the tablet was checking for market place updates , it would be the same thing as my phone. Both of the devices would be running the same version of the Android OS as well.
I think the reason why they knew i was tethering was when i was watching youtube on my laptop. THe amount of data that a laptop consumes when watching youtube videos was like 50x what the usage on my iphone viewing the same video was. I remember one time i think it used like 2GB of data in like 3 hours just watching youtube

Just be careful with the data like you said. I tether to update apps on my wifi xoom, and download some new ones. Its only once every few months and no more than 400mb used at a time, so I don't see an issue with vzw. Especially with unlimited I use 4 gigs a month avg. But I do believe they can tell if its your phone, a tablet, laptop, ps3 and so on using the data.
