Text Messages Showing Cell Number

i noticed that i have a contact whom i texted yesterday and i only have one number and no facebook linked to it and when i texted him it didn't show the number

Contacts without a fb account do not have a number link next to their text messages on my phone. I just un-linked a few others who had their number link displayed prior to un-linking and the number link is gone when the original contact and fb are no longer linked together.

Problem solved....except its far from ideal. And after re-reading the thread, I now realize that people without fb are experiencing the same issue. Go figure.

Go into settings and general view in message app and disable call history... Works out nicely

I'm probably the only one that's coming from the EVO 4G with this problem. Anyone else? Or is everyone coming from the Pre?

No. Evo 4G since launch day>>>Now E3D since launch. Same thing happening. It's because for that specific contact, you have more than one number listed for them. Kind of like how the Pre would specify if you were texting their phone or IMing them with icons (either their fb pic or the AIM running man would headline any messages beneath as being their phone or AIM) within the same chat window.

True. It's kinda silly that if a contact has one mobile number and one house number it'll still show up, as if you're going to text someone on their home number!

If you click Home > More > Recipient phone number, it'll list all the numbers, including duplicates.

I'm beginning to get used to Handcent. If they come out with a skin similar to Sense 3.0, then I'm not looking back...

I'm seeing this behavior as well, but didn't realize it was a "problem" until I saw this thread.

You can text a home number and a electronic voice will read it back to the person your texting. I did it several times by accident and the person i texted received the message.

Whenever I've texted a landline from my Pre, I've never gotten charged. Why would it be different on the E3D?

If people are still wondering about the numbers being next to the contacts it fixes when you delete the contact and re-add.

All of the contacts I have texted dont have the number next to their name.

Dont really know what the difference was, but it has to be something that's making it show up that way.

It definitely isnt a new "feature," as it is really obnoxious. I've seen it on other Evo 3Ds. I'm gonna look into it and see what I can find.....

When I went to Sprint, one guy there had the 3D and he too had the numbers showing next to the names. Another guy working there had a 4G that was rooted with Sense 3.0 and he too had the numbers showing.

I deleted my wife's contact information, then re-entered. The number went away, but as soon as I linked her name to the Facebook HTC Sense, the number appeared again.

This is really strange. I wish Sense would give us some more customizations. Otherwise, I like the stock app. I'll probably just deal w/ it because goSMS doesn't want to send MMS while connected to wifi, and I'm not a fan of handcent's theming/skins/conversation styles.

While this issue IS slightly annoying...i find it not even close to the level of annoyance as the issue with incorrect birthdays (when sync'd with facebook). At least these numbers are CORRECT!
