The title pretty says it all. I pushed the 4.1.2 JB update today and was super stoked. Unfortunately, Handcent sms and the default messaging app are not working. At first they were, but then Handcent crashed and I tried using the default. After copious restarts the problem still exists and the Handcent app crashes after i receive a notification saying i have 103+ unread messages. I have tried clearing the cache and the data for both messaging apps, but no change. I would rather not do a factory reset if I don't have to. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Did you uninstall and then install Handcent SMS again? Personally, I'm using Go SMS Pro without any issues... I was part of the soak test... I did have to go into the Settings of Go SMS Pro after the update and enable the app to be the default SMS app after the JB push. I push had enabled the default app again. And I'm sure you have already rebooted your device once in your troubleshooting, haven't you???

***EDIT: Also, the reason I knew Go SMS Pro was not the default SMS was the lock screen... it showed the default app on the lock screen, but after I set it as the default in the app it showed Go SMS Pro logo on the lock screen for the text app.

I use Handcent. Never had an issue with the app, except after the first two reboots it displayed reminders for some older messages like they hadn't been read.

Since the second reboot, no problem.

My mms/txt app didn't get replaced on my lock screen. Hmmm... Wonder why? It is set as the default app for both.

I use Chomps SMS and still works after the update. As said...try uninstalling the app and reinstalling. If that doesn't work a FDR my be needed.
