Hi everyone,

I have everything in the settings to go off including the screen flashing but when I receive a text I just hear the notification sound and nothing pops up

Is this a Google messages vs Samsung messages thing or did they completely deactivate the screen lighting up?

Thanks

I don't think Google Messages has an option to light up the screen when a notification arrives (personally, I hate that option!). However, if you have pop-up notifications enabled and set to show when screen is off, Google Messages does trigger that pop up effect (you may have to ensure the Notification category for Messages is set to be shown on Lockscreen).

Am I missing anything? I thought I had it all checked off

Check the notification categories (i.e. a specific thread or the general Incoming Messages category may be turned off). Also, check the "Notification pop-up style" section of your phone's settings.

No idea why it wouldn't be working then, it is for me :( All I can think of is to uninstall/re-install at this point.

All Good Lock's module can do is change the notification animation and change colors based on app/message content, but that's about it. It won't help if you're not getting the pop up to begin with.

Do you mean when the screen display has timed out and gone black?

Do you have the Always On Display (AOD) turned on?

The Lock Screen option you have turned on is only when the screen is already back on, waiting for you to swipe up to the home screen.

If you want the screen to turn on from being completely off, or from the AOD, when a new notification comes in... that's not a stock option. All notification animations, flashes, what-have-you, are only seen if the screen is already on.

If you want the screen to turn on and show the notification bubble, you need an app for that.

I had to hunt one down years ago when I first got an S8, switching from a BlackBerry that turned the screen on for new notifications as a stock option. IPhone does too. But not Android.

There may be several apps for this, but the one I found was Glimpse Notifications in the Play Store. Still using it today on my S24+ . Works just as it should.

Yes I mean when the phone has nothing showing on the screen, I do have aod but only when i tap tje screen, all my other galaxies would wake up my phone and a bubble would even appear with the message until the S24 ultra, then it would just light up with no detailed content

I was using samsung messages then im wondering if ita a Google messages issue

I guess I can always install samsung messages and find out it's just that im kinda enjoying Google messages it's a new experience for me

If you go to settings>Notifications>Notifications pop up style choose brief>all apps is highlighted then go to edge lighting style on?

Also under notifications >lock screen I have cards enabled

Make sure notifications are set to brief, not detailed. I had mine to show detailed for some reason and once I changed it, it worked.
