i got my note9 however i do not like the texting software it has.. what is a good one that is not hard on your battery to use?
 
I agree with above suggestions.
Google Messages is free and works well.
Textra is awesome and customizable, but costs a couple bucks, if you don't want ads.

Not really.

You can use Textra and all of its features for free forever.

After a few days or so, if you don't pay, you have an ad in your conversation list.

You can set this to be at the bottom of the feed... well the bottom of what fits on your screen... so it's totally, 100% unobtrusive.

I love Textra.
 
If on Verizon, you can use Message+ for free and have the ability to send texts from your tablet/computer.

I use this and it works great on the phone. However, the iPad and PC versions are not so good... they often don’t sync up immediately with the messages.

It's difficult to recall which pro versions of apps provide which features.
