The Android Dictionary (aka "What the hell are they talking about?!?!")

Reset: Including an explaination of what "hard" "soft" "Factory" and other terms in front of reset may mean...and a how to link. You could turn this into a Wiki type page with links for more than the basic defination.

I'm a Android veteran, but a noob when it comes to knowledge...I've been surfing and came across a few that aren't in here, I'll mention them as I come across them.

-Flash/flashing
-under/overclocking

And I agree w/ alot of people above me, there are a bunch of great ideas to add.
EDIT: And thanks for making this, brilliant idea, specially for people like me who would like to know more about what my phone is really capable of.

How about adding some definitions for benchmarks?

I've recently seen people referring to "quadrant" scores.

FFC, for Front-Facing Camera
USB debugging.
I searched the net for ten minutes on FFC when it hit me (duh)
USB debugging is only for screen shots?

I'm a total Android newbie, and while the dictionary is good, it's only good to a point. What exactly is Froyo? There isn't a definition, just a link to the news about Froyo, and if you don't understand the term to begin with the links don't do much good. Anyone know the term 'grok'? I don't grok Froyo. :)

SLCD- Super Liquid Crystal Display,

And you guys should make this an app, like really. That would be an awesome bit of information to have in the palm of one's hand.

Hero

First off, I know that there was a European Hero, and I know that the Eris is Verizon's version of the Hero.

You describe the Eris as the US version of the Hero.
You describe the Hero as a phone released by Verizon as the Eris, also known as the G2.

I know you guys know that the Hero was released by Sprint, before Verizon released the Eris. Umm, and I never heard anyone refer to either of them as the G2. Youknow, that flimsy-hinged phone, missing half its memory that just came out? haha sorry, couldn't resist.

Didn't really tell me what a kernel and ROM really are, but thanks for the basic definition. :) Doesn't help a clueless noob like me though.

Another Acronym

I just read an article about titled Motorola Droid 2 SBF Released for 2.3.20 Update. I'm not on Verizon, so really don't follow the Droid stuff that closely, but SBF was something that I hadn't heard of. The article seems to take the stance that if you know about modding and such, then you know what the SBF is. Well, I know about modding my MyTouch and Vibrant, but don't know what the SBF is.

Would be nice to find out what it is and include it in the dictionary.

I think this dictionary is a great thing for the Android community.

Great Job!

What is Jacked?

I have seen people say they have their phone rooted and jacked. I know what rooted is but what is Jacked?

I came on here to ask for "Nandroid" to be added and saw that two other people have asked for the same thing. Do we have to pester you people before you add something? :D

Seriously, though, I am beginning to doubt that anyone responsible for the dictionary actually reads this thread.
