re: Galaxy Note7 shipments delayed for "quality testing"

I ordered my Note 7 online yesterday at TMobile and it is already at the delivery depot where I'll pickup today. I made a premature judgement and return the first note 7 too early. Ended up ordering a new one.

I knew you'd be back! :p

re: Galaxy Note7 shipments delayed for "quality testing"

It takes a lot to get me concerned about these "issues" that one sees pop up after a new phone is released but I will add a little anecdotal data to the mix. The other night I grabbed my Note4 (original) cable and the Samsung usb-c adapter that was included with my Note7 as I was heading out for a last minute overnight away. Later that night I plugged it in and after about 15 minutes the adapter was so hot I couldn't touch it for longer than a few seconds without feeling it was going to burn me. Immediately unplugged it. It was WAY too hot. I won't be using that adapter ever again.

That's odd.

I've used Samsung wallwarts with that adapter and haven't felt it at that level of hotness.

But still, better to be safe than sorry.

Yes, I was very surprised. I have always used OEM accessories. I wasn't worried at all about that adapter. Maybe something wrong with mine. Who knows. My Note4 original cable has been in the same spot (bedside) for two years prior to my grabbing it the other night and pairing it with the adapter. So I would think that cable would still be in great condition.

re: Galaxy Note7 shipments delayed for "quality testing"

I think the cracks are the thin glass design using curves, so not a quality production issue, but a systemic design issue. Surely Samsung tested before blessing the build of material and design. Hubris win here? Style over substance fail?
Nerf cases might be a trend for the Note 7 ;) :) Added: I own a Note 7, so can joke (tragedy is a form of comedy).
Agreed. I smell a class action suit over the glass issues. REALLY poor design idea to have a glass back. Might be "pretty", but that won't last long unless you have a serious case. I'm so on the fence about keeping or returning and only because of the glass back.

re: Galaxy Note7 shipments delayed for "quality testing"

Never used the wall wart. I've always wirelessly charged my Note 7.

re: Galaxy Note7 shipments delayed for "quality testing"

I would never trust those cheap China chargers or cheap mall kiosk non brand chargers. Didn't Iphones and Ipods have a few cases of the batteries imploding in peoples pockets?

The glass thing worries me due to the curved edges. While the Edge and Note 7 curved edges might be nice, they're prone to easily breaking. I wish the Note 7 had a flat screen. Me thinks those cell and tablet repair shops will be making bank.

Glass back isn't really an issue. The Note 5 has a glass back, I've dropped it caseless on the driveway and not an issue.

re: Galaxy Note7 shipments delayed for "quality testing"

That sucks to whoever that happened to.

re: Galaxy Note7 shipments delayed for "quality testing"

Does your phone get warm on the wireless stand? Mine gets warm with the USBC charger, but not hot.

re: Galaxy Note7 shipments delayed for "quality testing"

Fast charge heats up the device it even says it in the settings menu and gives you the option of turning fast charging off

re: Galaxy Note7 shipments delayed for "quality testing"

Concerning but I really like this phone though... design, features, etc.

If I do accept the risk... I've always loved and have faith in the Speck Crystal Candy Shell cases... always makes any phone I paired it with feel like a solid brick with a little more thickness than something like a spigen clear. I'd have to pair a Note 7 with one of those.

The Note 7 Speck candy shell cases covers a portion of the speaker port and also has no S-pen corner protection. Drop it at the right angle and your actual phone is going to touch the ground. I returned my Speck because of these issues.

This isn't the first glass back. It's not even the only one this year.

The only hotness I feel with my phone is whenever I lock eyes with it.

I hope they do a redesign on the case :-\

re: Galaxy Note7 shipments delayed for "quality testing"

So... Is it the snapdragon Version or not that's affected?

Re: Galaxy Note7 shipments delayed for "quality testing"

I can't see Samsung knowing of a known defect and hiding it especially a battery issue. Now glass breaking could be an issue for them and maybe corning and Samsung are looking at how fragile some have reported. Either way I am sure they will figure it out and make good on any defective device's.

re: Galaxy Note7 shipments delayed for "quality testing"

Glad i sold my Eynox version for a $450 profit, re sale of those in circulation now have just taken a hit.
