The HTC One has kind of saved the mobile market...

All I meant with this thread is that it's nice that the One is garnering some major attention, particularly with the general public. This didn't need to become a 3 page pissing contest.

Listen, just because this thread didn't exactly go the way you planned doesn't mean it's everyone else taking things out of context. It's just you that didn't choose your words wisely. Had you had something similar to what's quoted in the OP you wouldn't have gotten the responses you see. It's mostly the title throwing people off, it's a good phone but it's not a market savior. It's an HTC savior. The market doesn't need saving, you buy what you want.

I don't really see what the big deal is anyway, this isn't a 3 page pissing contest. Most of the responses are in favor of HTC, they're just accurate and truthful about the situation.

No, I think I've covered that ;).

One thing though is that HTC didn't get into this situation with one phone, it's going to take more than one phone to get them out.

Exactly. Last year was a step in the right direction with reducing the number of devices but it didn't go far enough and still had too many carrier exclusives. This year they took it a huge step further by simplified message and a distinctive high quality flagship but this is still just another step on the road to recovery that will take time. I think people just need to relax. :)

To think, had I just replaced "saved" with "rejuvenated" this whole thread would be completely different. Y'all can say what you want, but the One is the first phone that nearly ALL of my iPhone friends are jealous of and plan on upgrading to. It may not be selling at the brisk pace of the iPhone 5 or S4, but nobody expected it to.

This article, from notorious iPhone biased site BGR, seems to think the One is doing just fine: HTC One Sales: Production Increases to Meet ‘Strong Demand’ | BGR

Massachusetts. And the only people I know that want the S4 are people that haven't seen the One. Enjoy your Fisher Price toy.

I would agree with you as i had the S3 for 2 days, and truly hated it,but until i can test the S4 for myself i will not past judgement, but like so many have said,i do not judge any phone by how well it sells, but rather the phone that suites my needs, no phone is perfect so you have to determine what is important to your needs and go with the phone tat displays these strengths.

I can't believe anyone read the op and actually thought they implied that Android was dying and needed saving.

Just me but how I read it was phones like the HTC One among others are somewhat needed just to keep a bit of balance with Samsung.

With Samsungs dominance in Android is nice to have options like the HTC One, Optimus and so on

Imaging this (for giggles) apple making an android phone or Samsung or htc making a iPhone variant. Would be fantastic for competition

The OP said nothing about "others".

I'm not quoting sales numbers. I'm talking about the hype and publicity of the phone. The hype and publicity helps with sales in general. Most brands make comparable or better phones than Samsung and HTC and apple but not having it publicised makes a different of how many are sold.

I'm sorry but the HTC one has no hype outside of tech enthusiasts. At my job they always ask me what phone is that when they see my one. They however all went and bought the s4 because it's a brand they know.

I was with you till that Fisher Price comment. I thought you were being objective. I have the one, and see nothing wrong with the s4, which has sold 10 million since release by the way.

Aside from positive reviews on tech sites, what real attention has the One gotten? It won't put a dent in anything Samsung or Apple is trying to do. People need to stop trying to act like this phone is on that level. It can easily compete with them if you compare them on how they look or function, but it isn't a phone that's going to make a difference on how much Samsung or Apple dominate the market.

I am objective. I'm not biased to any company. Apple isn't impressing me by being arrogant and sticking with small displays. And Samsung isn't impressing me by being arrogant and releasing a successor that is 90% its predecessor. HTC is the only one doing something fresh and exciting this year.

Just close this thread please. I'm over these rude, sarcastic, and critical responses when I had nothing but pure and positive intentions when posting.

If you didn't think your OP was going to generate this kind of reaction you haven't been around here very long lol

I have both. The S4 is far from a toy and is easily the more recognizable and sought after device between the two. Your dismissal of the S4 just confirms my earlier statement that you're desperate for your phone to be more relevant with other people.

It isn't. Get over it.

The bickering needs to stop. I'm not asking again.

Edit: We're not going to discuss moderation of this thread here. Post in a civil fashion and make sure your post is on-topic.
