The HTC One has kind of saved the mobile market...

Okay real talk here did anyone really expect otherwise ? Samsung could've put out an empty shell and change the name and they would outsell their predecessor people are buying off of brand loyalty and following trends. HTC dropped the ball 3yrs ago and its going to take at least 3-4 phones great ones at that in order to gain that foot hole like Samsung has right now...Say what you want Samsung was going to start pulling off an apple but with HTC new found vigor that will be a different story...Now HTC needs marketing like a man in the dessert needing water...and then just raising the bar on build and quality with each phone....

Aside from the manufacturing process which is atrocious at best, I don't see them making a phone that's built much better than this. Which is fine because it's gorgeous.

This phone is a reviewers dream, but it doesn't hold the same weight with the average consumer. Their marketing strategy is flawed already and they missed the boat on the small window they had before the S4 came out. They're still having supply issues (apparently being rectified this month and next) and have yet to really make much headway as evidenced by the record amount of sales/devices shipped by Samsung.

This phone is amazing. There's no denying that. Pretending it's a big seller like the S4 or iPhone 5 is just your way of wanting it to be more important than it actually is. Give them time; this may be the phone that starts their ascension to the top.

That's just an opinion.

Sales figures will make it a fact. Considering the price points, it'll have a hard time even competing with the S3 or 4S. Doesn't mean it's a worse phone. It just means they aren't on that level yet.

I'm also confused how the One saved the market. The OP writes as though Apple and Samsung are untouchable. And right now, they are. But think back. It's not so long ago that the big players were Nokia, Motorola, or Blackberry.

Companies and trends come and go, and as quickly as Apple and Samsung roared onto the scene, in five years I promise the market will be something entirely new. Not saying those two will disappear or fail, but, really, anything can happen; adapt or die

All you guys have no business talking about phones, you are clueless about what makes a phone. NONE of you guys in ALL the post in this thread have mention anything about the hardware in these phones. I cant believe the IGNORANCE you guys display!! HTC has to come out with 3 or 4 phones??? heres a quote that proves my point " HTC dropped the ball 3yrs ago and its going to take at least 3-4 phones great ones at that in order to gain that foot hole like Samsung has right now" What the heck are you talking about, i love to hear what you think makes a good phone. You no clue as to what hardware thats in your phone now and i bet you dont have a clue as to where to look on your phone to find out. Like i said quadcore equals massive battery usage and only 2 cores run 90% percent of the time, so people paid outrageous amount of money for something that doesnt even get used. THe evo 3d with dualcore snapdragon ADRENO processor can be overclocked to 2ghz and run stable, and there isnt another dualcore that runs better, and quadcores only use 2 cores 90% percent of the time and they dont go over 1.5ghz most of the time. but heaven forbid we start talking about the hardware, then all you guys would have to be quiet. is there anyone of you guys that can talk about the hardware which really what makes a phone. All you guys need to get a grip and HTC has nothing to prove to a bunch of fools like you guys.

and by the way, i was only here because of this thread "[How To][Boot Animations] Collection and Tutorial Updated: 10-19" inwhich im looking for a good boot loader splashscreen for my custom rom that im working on now. When one you figure out how to make a custom then maybe you might be able to talk about what makes a good phone, but I couldnt read anymore about your dumb conversation without have to say something, I have put hundreds of hours in developing apps and fixes and roms and know the inner workings of these phones and you have no business talking about phones , so please do everyone a favor and close this thread

This thread is talking about the success of the One as it pertains to the market, not whether it's a good phone or not. Try reading the actual thread first before rambling incoherently about your developing skills/knowledge of hardware.

Hmm....you should know more about the actual hardware before you start spouting "facts".

So you know about Android and software. Please tell me how that relates to what I quite above.

Also, nobody forces you to reply, and when you do you shouldn't be so rude and condescending.

Look at that; we agree on something.

I would have to agree with this statement.

I hated the builds of HTC from the start never even wanted to look at one, but the HTC One, got me looking, and when I go get my phone, I'll actually be taking another look at HTC, before I inevitably buy the Gs4. I think HTC is finally back on track, but they have a long way to go to come back in this market.

So you expect HTC to start their comeback with this phone, but want them to lower their price point because they're not "on the same level" as Samsung and Apple? If by "on the same level" you mean market share, they're not. But that doesn't mean that justifies a lower price point, I mean Lamborghini doesn't have the same market share as Toyota, but they sure as hell cost more. Besides, lower price point means lower margins, can't make a comeback if they're limiting themselves on the money they make with each phone due to low margins. Also, how do you know their manufacturing process is atrocious? Have you been to an HTC factory? Seen it first hand? Watched a documentary maybe?

I never said I expect them to lower their price point. I said that given the lower price points of extremely well marketed devices like the S3 and 4S, it may be hard for the One to compete with even last years devices. And yes, I was referring to market share.

No, I've never seen one made. I've not watched a documentary. I have, however, had 3 of these phones because the first 2 had flaws like the screen sticking out from under the top speaker grille or significant gaps on the top and bottom between the polycarbonate and the aluminum. I'm not the only one, either. That said, I understand how intricate of a process it must be to make one of these, but it's possible for them to make one without those aforementioned flaws because I'm holding one right now.

Not only is it the most beautiful smartphone hardware to date.

No where near being the most beautiful smartphone to date. The silver makes the speaker grill look ugly at least to me. The black no so noticeable. Htc one x was by far better looking too bad it didn't sell as much as other smartphones.

how can you talk about its success without mentioning what makes it successful???? your the one who needs to read! Really your gonna talk about it success in the market without mention what made it successful!!! get a grip! nice try on trying to clown me. All you guys should be posting smartass replies to me because the fact is how can you talk about the success of anything when you dont even know what makes it successful? And my point is that because it makes money or not doesnt mean the the product is good. All it means is that idiots fell for the marketing scams. Lets have a real talk about it, like how it works and how is the HTC ONE different the than S4 and the Iphone. Not just looking at which made more money. You cant because you dont have a clue as to what the physical differences are. Mr eric kane said that HTC needs to come out with 3 or 4 better phones, How should they come out and make a better phone????? You never address that and he doesnt say, plus thats to assume that they are making bad phones, I say how the heck do you know when you cant tell what the difference between besides what happens in the market, which actually is you guys should be talking about how successful the marketing scam that is for these phones, not the functioning of them. You are trying to tell me that because 1 phone sold more than another that it means that it is better and i say horse ****. And when you that sansung is equated with Android, i say your dead wrong. you guys dont realize their is no substance in your opinions. You guys just like to hear yourselves talk.

Bigrey81 said they need 3-4 more phones, not me. No one said that because a phone sells more that it's better.

Like I said; try reading first.

ok mr Quinn Nvidia theres a subject, they have been getting together with software company's and having them make games that only thier TEgra gpu can support or play, forcing us to buy phones that have thier gpu in it if we want to play a graphic intense game on Adroid. Its not that other phones dont have the capability its in the coding that makes them not playable unless you have a tegra gpu phone. This also gives the illusion to people that their tegra gpu is superior than all other ppc gpu's. When in truth phones like the evo3d and others can play them, thiers a game called "real boxing" which wont work on anything but a tegra device phone, and its not because the sys requirements are to high its because the coding is specific to the tegra. think about it, why would a software company make a game that only 1 type of device can play? It limits thier sale of the game and thier profits, but if they are paid to make this game with this special coding, it will be done. Mr nvidia so can you explain to me why thier are games that are TEGRA only??? I love to hear your answer, i provided mine with the reasonging behind it.

Just look at the respective commercials. HTC shows a bunch of club going 20 somethings partying whereas Samsung shows grown adults at a graduation party. Samsung aims for the fat part of of the market and HTC aims at a niche.

I also question that anyone associates Evo with android.

It's not targeting a group of ppl. It was a way to advertives a feature in the phone. Samsung advertives nfc most of the time. It's not targeting a group because if it was then Samsung would target the family who arr sexy freaks in o e if there gs3 commercials.

When the evo brand was out Samsung had it's epic line out and everyone wanted the evo.

Come on man you compared a lambo to a Toyota as an analogy! Why not compare a Toyota to a Kia, that would be more apt. As per pricing, $650 for the 64gb is a great price. HTC has terrible marketing, that's their problem. Everyone knows about the galaxy line, very few know about the HTC one line.
