The HTC One will be a hit, pass Galaxy S4 for ONE reason..

I've got 20gb of music on mine. I like having full albums with the artwork. I use my phone in the gym. Sometimes I'll listen to an album working out or other times I'll make a play list. Some things I don't listen to all the time but why settle if you don't have to. Not going to drink the Kool aide when it comes relying on the cloud.

I don't remember how many songs but pretty sure it's under 10k. It's extremely convenient to have all of your music with you all the time. You don't spend the time managing what's on the device, deleting old music, adding new and so forth. When you or someone you are with wants to listen to a song that you don't listen to often you have it. I can see very fast if I anyway own a sing or not... It's really a convenience thing. I came from an iPhone and I always kept playlists for the music I wanted to sync but now it's really easy just to have everything synced and not have to worry about it. And I listen to a lot of music

+1. I like having all of my music on my phone. I have very random tastes (ie "I feel like Eminem today, and tomorrow I might wake up with a Cage the Elephant kind of mood). I don't want to worry about managing what I might want to listen to later. Is all my music on my phone a necessity? Probably not, but it's definitely less constricting.

That said, I only have about 18 GB on my phone, but it is ever expanding as I try to expand my musical horizons.

I will probably have to pass and get a plastic S4 instead.

I really love the HTC ONE, and it is certainly the best looking phone available however I am uncomfortable with HTC's situation and their potential to go bankrupt in the near future. Coming from the iPhone, the removable battery and sd card are the least of my concerns.

Pass galaxy s4 for one reason? How about pass it to me lol. I hope the one is wildly successful. Lookes like a winner to me. Any reasonable person knows it just isn't impressive enough to squash the big dog. If they keep it up, maybe they can par in a few years. That would make a win for all of us. Tin cans lol. Aluminum is so cheap. The only phone to ever get high end design right was a ss wrapped iPhone. Aluminum looks like dog crap much faster than plastic imo.

I want HTC to Destroy with this phone and business model. I love HTC and the way they make solid phones no plastic crap.

Funny since the htc one x is made of the same plastic as that gs3

I really cannot understand this at all. Even the littlest bit. Lots of others have made similar comments here and in other HTC forums. I realize that they don't have a trillion dollars in cash, like Apple, nor did they net 6+ billion last quarter, like Samsung. But you're afraid that they are going bankrupt so you're not considering this device? I'm pretty sure that HTC has turned a profit every quarter for nearly a decade, so that's a problem? It hasn't been as high a profit over the last year or so, but I think it's pretty safe to say that bankruptcy isn't in their future.

Ok so clearly I'm missing something here....

HTC has been dive bombing in recent history. I'm not sure what the last phone they came out with was that could be considered a success. And before anybody jumps on that last statement success means that it's a decent phone AND sells well enough to make a profit. And now people think that all of a sudden the company with absolutely no forward moment is going to beat out Samsung the company who is dominating the mobile world right now.... Seriously.... Yes I agree that if HTC comes out with the "One" phone on all major carriers (Has to be the same phone, look the same and have the same name) that is absolutely a big step in the right direction. That is of course assuming they don't get bored and come out with the One+ 3 months later and flush that good marketing down the tubes. So what is it about this phone that's going to all of a sudden dominate? Blink Feed? One of the big new features in Sense 5 that all anybody's talking about is "do I have to use it?" and "how do I disable it?" Or the redone app drawer that looks horrible and inefficient? Or zoes? The gimmicky little movie clip thing, I know I would never get any use out of that and I certainly am not buying a phone for that. A lot of people would say it's the all metal design, well the evo 4g lte was nearly all metal, great build quality and that phone certainly did nothing to bolster HTC or bring them out of their slump. This isn't the first 1080p screen or even the first HTC 1080p screen so it's not like that is revolutionary. So yes I agree the "One" is step in the right direction but is it enough to take the struggling HTC past the thriving galaxy S series..No way not even close

The iPad 4 has 128GB of storage.

Have fun paying 8-900 bucks for it though. I can buy a 128GB worth of flash drives for a small fraction of the price. Let alone a 2TB portable hard drive for a fraction of the price, the small ones too so it's pretty portable. Throw in an OTG Cable and the app needed for it to work and I'm set.

This is from me, on my EVO 3D.

I would love the HTC One to beat the Samsung Galaxy S4 however, I just know it won't. Samsung have been doing it right these last few years by marketing themselves incredibly well and producing phones that whilst sheathed in plastic (and flimsy plastic in my opinion) for the most part are pretty damn clever when it comes to the internals.

There's no reason why HTC can't challenge them, it just won't be overnight and it will take more than one good phone for them to do so.

You guys realize that it's all the HTC owners (which are a lot fewer than Sammy owners) obsessing over the plastic. It's not like the s3 or note 2 forums are full of people lamenting over their plastic phones. I've owned an evo 4g lte which is probably the best build quality from HTC to date and I have a note 2 currently and it's a solidly built phone with no physical issues.

Well, I owned a Galaxy S3 and in my opinion it was flimsy plastic. I've never owned an HTC phone. My SGS3 suffered torsion issues and was one of the many reasons I took it back. I still have my SGS2 though.

So in my case I am speaking from first hand experience.

Never had torsion issues on either gs3 in my house. By the usb port, the plastic creaked when smashed together, no twisty phone stuff. Loved the finish on the gs3 series. One of the best ploly finishes ever on a polycarbonate case. Total win there.

I bought mine on day one so it may have been a Friday Afternoon phone. But there was definite torsion there. If you held the corners you could bend the phone along the diagonals, which doesn't seem right in my opinion. I found this out by accident though by dint of it being in a jacket pocket, initially I didn't try to bend the phone on purpose.

The screen was great and the phone was blisteringly quick and with some great functionality but the battery life was just awful too. If I charged mine overnight, took it off charge at 7am and went to work, the phone would be completely dead (and I mean completely dead) by 6pm with only light use. If I stayed at home and kept it on wifi and didn't use it at all, it would maybe last one full 24 hours period before needing a charge. Both circumstances with power saving enabled too. This is what makes me think that individual device was a lemon.

Agreed. And if "plasticky" (as if that's a bad thing?) is the price to be paid for excellent battery life and dev support, then I guess I'm sold.

In my opinion 'plasticky' is not a plus point but it might not necessarily be a bad point. And as I said above, the battery life on my SGS3 was abysmal. Fortunately we're all different and like different things. Wouldn't the world be dull if we all liked the same things?

i had good battery life on the s3, also get awesome battery on my note 2. htc is the one who usually has horrid battery life. i will say id hope the s4 would have a plastic like the htc one x had. seems more durable to me.

As demonstrated by Samsung vs. HTC sales, the world does seem to prefer one thing. I'm not endorsing "plasticky", I just don't understand why it matters. The matte TPU case on my phone is going to feel the same regardless of whether the phone inside is plastic or aluminum.

No doubt they are making money, but they are also debt riddled, and as you would have already known, bailout offers have been made which is not a good sign. Just like Blackberry (formerly RIM) and their z10 line, the HTC One is probably the make or break phone for the company which does not gain it much consumer confidence. I am pretty sure they will not go belly up, but they can and are selling pieces to stay afloat such as selling it's shares in Beats audio (HTC sells controlling Beats Audio stake as smartphones stumble - SlashGear)

It all comes down to personal comfort levels, especially for pricey purchases. Perhaps I will go for one next year if things improve.
