The iPhone SE 2020 basically just killed the Pixel 4a and other value flagships...

Dbrand would be the place to go to if that is the case!

See what I did there...
So dbrand doesn't "offer" a front skin for the iPhone SE 2020.

But anyone who knows about iPhones, knows that the front face is completely unchanged since the 6 from 2014.

So I selected the Red 7 (because dbrand doesn't have the Red 8) and this is basically what it would look like, except with a black home button:

I think a device like the SE considering the battery capacity will be fine for “normal” users. Those who use their phones for texts, a few calls and some web and maps. Battery should last a day and beyond. The folks who have their phones going with something constantly, social media, vids, Netflix and the like will need something more. That said this is the perfect device for light to moderate users. For my usage and I dare say other SE owners the smaller size is the biggest selling point.
Saw a young pre-teen girl the other day using a Samsung note, on a call up to her ear. She could barely hold it with her tiny hand. Kind of comical to see.

That's unique! in my experience, I rarely see teens with anything other then iPhones. If I do see them with Android it's a budget model or it's a techy kid who loves the galaxy note or s series. Good for that teen girl for not just wanting a blue bubble, little hands and all. lol

You can’t let it go, can you?

What? That it has a small battery? That's not nitpicking, it's a fact. I didn't go with the Pixel 4 because from most all accounts it doesn't have good battery life, I'm assuming because of Soli and the 90Hz display. They needed to increase the battery capacity to compensate for those extra drains, simple as that.

A few posts back cbreze said that light users, ones who only send a few texts, calls, some web browsing and maps will be fine with the SE. Now imagine if someone said that about the Pixel 4. There would be an avalanche of ridicule about that statement. Something along the lines of this is 2020 and you shouldn't have to limit your use of the device to get decent battery life. I know because I did see posts like that in the comments sections of the reviews on it. I know, the Pixel 4 is a more expensive phone. But when you see phones like the Moto G Power coming out with monster batteries for $250, I don't think it's unreasonable to hold Apple to a higher standard on their $400 phone. Sure, the SE will be supported longer than the Moto, but 2 things about that. First, just because a phone isn't supported doesn't make it unusable. And second, if the battery life is mediocre to average at the start, it's not going to get better with time, just the opposite. So that means you'll have five years of average to mediocre battery life, getting worse the longer it goes.

I can find something to nitpick about every single phone but why? It gets old after a while. This isn’t an Android vs. Apple debate. It’s actually been very positive for the most part. Let’s allow people to enjoy their choice of phone without going out of the way to find something to chastise.

so I've owned the device for a week and I can tell you after having the s20 plus, there's a reason this is a 400 phone. I did opt for the 256 gb version... and this phone just simply is another iphone... it lacks to me... the battery lacks... the camera and design lack... which is why it's at its price point. needless to say it's being sent back and I'm back to the s20 plus... i really tried hard to like the iPhone se 2020... but it was just missing something... and I bounce between iOS and android. just my thoughts.

Can’t really be compared to any phone but the iPhone 7 or 8. Since both of those were $700 new, this is really quite a bargain and an excellent price. I knew this going in as I had owned a 7 and wasn’t expecting anything more than that except the chip upgrade. I could see why you’d be disappointed coming fresh off an S20, talk about apples and oranges. My expectations were an iPhone 8 with a chip upgrade. I wasn’t disappointed as that’s exactly what I got. I bounce between iPhone and pixel and appreciated the smaller sized SE. That was another plus for me.

I didn't say there was a phone that didn't have it's drawbacks. But pointing out something that is a potential issue isn't really nitpicking, it's discussing the limitations it has which is something everyone needs to recognize and address before purchasing so they don't end up having buyer's remorse. That's what everyone should do with any purchase they make.

Of course it's an Android vs Apple debate. First, look at the title of the thread. Second we're discussing an Apple device on an Android forum, that's inevitable. People considering the SE, especially those who aren't familiar with iOS should know what they're getting into before making the switch, and highlighting the differences between the SE and other Android devices is probably the best way to do so, since many here are probably more familiar with Android. And that's not just about the OS either. Apple has a kind of hardware and design characteristic that is different from Android, especially comparing an older design vs the current Android crop.

I have no problem letting people enjoy their purchases. What I take issue with is those who may gloss over things that, if it were an Android device, would be ragged on and called a non starter. I understand things like RAM isn't and apples to apples comparison in regards to the 2 OS's. But I don't see anything wrong pointing out that the battery, while more efficient generally on iOS, is still average at best in this iteration of the SE. Using the older design means they weren't able to pack a larger unit. It's also not a bad thing to say that while video is superior and daylight still are good, their night shots are behind what you'd get on a Pixel device. And the screen, while probably brighter, is lower resolution and over an inch smaller than the Pixel's in roughly the same physical footprint.

You can't do a proper comparison or make an informed buying decision if you only focus on the good parts. You have to look at the whole picture, warts and all. And this thread isn't just for people who are familiar with iPhones, there are some here I'm sure that have no experience with them, so they should have all the facts before making their decision. The same way people point out the Pixel's shortcomings in this forum when asked about their experiences with them.

So let me get this straight, the person who posted this knows, for a fact, that the battery won’t last so is kindly posting a picture of a product the users will definitely need? He has been posting the same thing in other threads.
Discussing whether the battery life will be sufficient is perfectly acceptable, stating things as facts before we have any feedback from users is useless.

Or maybe, he's saying that it's something people need to be aware of if they choose it. Posting it in other threads means he's what, trying to shame people away from getting an SE?

From the reviews that are out, the battery life is average at best, roughly the same as the iPhone 8. And even before the reviews were posted, the SE has the same size battery as the iPhone 8. About the only things that will affect the battery life of the SE is a different processor and whatever changes have been made to iOS since the iPhone 8. Generally processors don't make that much difference in terms of battery life (they never end up being as noticeable as the chipmakers suggest). And unless Apple changed something in software that would've been keeping the processor awake, that probably won't change battery life much either. So it wouldn't have been much of a stretch to guess what it's battery life was. And the reviews so far seem to confirm it.

Nothing personal, but I don’t give a hoot about reviews (we know they are often wrong) or what you think, unless you own this device. I come on these forums, and others, to learn about devices from real people who use their devices like I do. That’s why I bought the Pixel 3a.

I have no interest, at the moment, to purchase the new iPhone but if at some future time I do become interested I will have learned from people who have actually used one. If they say the battery life is poor I will choose something else. If they say it is perfectly adequate and gets an average user, not a power user, through a day then it will be on my radar. I won’t even remember what you said.

Please stay on the topic , and not go back with one another.

So, on topic, has the Pixel 4a been declared dead yet?
If not, will it still be released this month?
I’m still happy with my 3a but want to see how they improve this lineup.
