The joy of the on-screen fingerprint sensor.

Maybe take a set of prints after you get out of the shower lol.

The ridges in you print/skin get thicker when wet... like a sponge soaking water. Being an ultrasonic sensor, I guess it could be more sensitive to those variables over optical? Maybe the same.

That's 30 good years in the bathroom baby
But it's okay, yeah it's okay
Cos when they come to take me away
I will be clean, I will be clean

Moisture actually helps the ultrasonic FPS read better. However, oversaturation of the fingertips could possibly alter the print temporarily.

I think I mentioned ealier using a couple of slots for overly dry/saturated prints. I haven't got round to that yet but should do.

My main point is though, What are people doing differently that some, like me have a massive success rate ant others are saying that it is wildly inacurate.

I suspect that it is in part becase the previous sensors forced a certain grip of the phone so you already had to be precice to actually find the sensor. With the on screeen one it is just there. You can squidge any part of your didgit any way you want. If you miss it must be the Phone's bad?
Some of it will be sensor based but all my failed logins have been just after waking up, bath hands or drunk as a glass of water.
On the latter I just leaned the other way in the chair and all was puppies and rainbows.

It should be also noted that my Note 10+ is only 6 to 8 weeks out of the box and only has the pre-applied screen protector, not a 3rd party

I agree. Even if I've just washed my hands or the dishes, my fingerprint may not register the first time, whereas I believe my physical FPS on my Pixel 2 and Honor 8 were a *bit* more resilient in that regard.

That's odd....capacitive sensors usually don't respond well to moisture compared to ultrasonic. Mine works fairly well damp.

Maybe I just love my phones so much that I have rose-coloured goggles. I just seem to think I had more success with one than the other. But that's not to say that the S10's fingerprint sensor isn't good. I'm loving it!

I do prefer in the back fingerprint sensor, but I no issue with ultrasonic.

My husband prefers it too. I'm not really sure where I stand on the two. I still sometimes find my finger reaching to the back of my S10 for a fingerprint scanner. But I've come to really love my in-display fingerprint sensor.

I'm kinda of use to the ultrasonic now.

I've read the latest June update you can turn off the fingerprint unlocks "ripple effect" which makes it faster to open. Anyone who has the June update is this true? T-Mobile still doesn't have the June update.

I find it funny when I log into my banking app that it is 100% accurate since I've owned the phone last year, but not unlocking the phone.

At first, on my 10+, it was hit or miss, maybe 75%. But after the couple updates last year, and the little trick a couple months ago(I cannot remember the steps), it's pretty much 100%. Unless like the other user stated, my hands are wet.

I loved the iris, but of course they took that away unfortunately. Short of that, works great.

See you went from unlock to carrier firmware, you be on June update

Yeah I went from stock Unlock to the T-Mobile CTD3 firmware because I was having WiFi calling issues. Is TMobile the only one not on the June patch?
I'm not sure, but you can flash any of the carrier until Tmobile sends it out, just use user data so no factory reset and 10 minutes your done
