The LG V20 Will Not Be Modular

The more they give us what we don't want, the more we'll stick with the phones we have. (Ara isn't ready yet - that's a modular phone. Being able to replace the battery by sliding a hidden panel isn't "modular".)

Who said it was nodular?

Here's the twist.

Half of the back is removable, which means that a removable battery is likely going to be there.

However, I'd still be skeptical of a 4000mAh battery. Maybe it is possible, but we'll see.

LG V20 won’t be modular but there is an interesting twist

Yeah, as I said in another thread, it will be interesting to see what capacity battery they'll be able to fit in there with only half of the back being removable. My guess the battery could look something like the Note 4 battery only narrower.

Maybe 3500..... Not sure I like a seam up the middle but maybe they will do a good job of making it blend.
I'm expecting somewhere between 3200 and 3500. It might be bigger, though.

We'll see on September 6th.

Even if the whole back were removable it could not use up all the space for the battery and keep a thin profile. Might cause heat issues for the components too.

This i do agree with there has to be some sort of space in order to keep the components cool so LG will not have any exploding phones.

They should have made the whole back removable. Just eliminate/avoid the seam+gap condition all together, someone always complains about seams and gaps.
I guess no wireless charging then... bummers, thats one of the V10 aspects I like most.
Capacity will be interesting, I doubt it will be more than ~3500mah... unless the V20 is thicker than pics show.

I wonder how easy it is to EDC extra batteries that shape? I stash two extras in my wallet for my V10, I don't even notice they are there.

I'll never get the obsession with super thin phones. Just makes em harder to hold.Make it a few mm thicker and put in a decent battery.

Ya but it takes all the excitement out of carrying phone in your pocket. Was that a notification vibration I felt or flaming gasses venting from my pocket? LOL

Me too... Have any Samsung fans ever complained about their Galaxy S7 being thicker than their S6? I too don't understand where the thin-fettish comes from, a the expense of battery.

I'm not suggesting I prefer thin phones.... just the nature of the industry

They THINK we want thin. Not everyone does. Put a 5000 mAh battery in a little thicker phone. Serious users will flock to it. That's why I hate that the N7 went for style over substance with curved glass edges. Note should be a serious phone, come in one color, and blow away the competition. Secure the business sector.

Agreed. I really don't understand the need for razor thin phones. Every year manufactures try to find ways to make them smaller and thinner. And every year I end up having to buy a bulky case so the phone is comfortable to hold in the hands.
