The Note 8 has poor battery life and poor brightness, give me the Note 7!!!

Can you believe it! Come on Samsung, did you rush it out?

What's YOUR battery life like?
Do you have a Note 8?
Let's see YOUR stats.

Thats not true, they criticized it in their review and said the max brightness was only 518 nits!

"We don't love how Samsung limits screen brightness in manual mode, and if you prefer really intentional control over display output, you're never going to be able to set the Note 8's brightness to anywhere near the hardware's limits. Toggle auto-brightness on and that ceiling raises considerably, though we've still seen plenty of phones with brighter screens than the Note 8."

Took this right from their review. I see the 518, but as you can see that still falls in the excellent category....

trusting a review from a site that ought to be called iphonearena is like getting a review on your Ford from a Toyota site.

I would say anecdotally that in the less than 2 days I have had my Note 8, battery life has been on par with my S8+ keeping in mind that the battery has not even properly settled yet. So, no complaints here.

Cheers,
BR
Living La Vida Note.. ;)

Phonearena is far from the best website for reviews, they've been called out numerous times for claiming the Note 8 has a dim screen and refuses to acknowledge it.

Reviews are just opinions, and you know what they say about opinions.... I personally could not care less about what most of these sites say, but if you are going base your opinion off of internet reviews then don't just go to one site, check it out on all the major sites before you form yours. If you do, you'll find the consensus is the display is excellent.

I've said this before, will say it again. Ignore the noise. Check the phone out for yourself. If you like it get it. End of story.

This. 1,000%

Honestly over the years, I've come to refuse to look at PhoneArena reviews. They say always say something different from everybody else. Plus Displaymate is a more reliable source of display quality measurements than they are.

Plus displaymate is showing very different readings, with the Note 8 better than the 7 in almost every category.

As I await the delivery of my Note 8, I looked at an article from AndroidCentral from 2014 stating that the Note 4 (my current phone) had a max manual rating of 500 nits and the only time I ever use the max setting is when I'm in direct sunlight. Indoors I keep my phone about 75%. With the numbers represented here, we are receiving a beast of a phone especially on brightness.

For me, I am at the point where I look at reviews for one thing: specs. Because for me, whoever does the review is injecting their opinion of the device, and there is nothing wrong with that. I usually ignore all of that as what I look for in a device mostly varies from what they do.

This phone has better battery than the note 7 or s7 edge. And it has the brightest screen.

You just got a bad one, I'm fine too and I've been on it constantly since I got it. I prefer a bright screen so mine is almost at its peak brightness and that uses battery too. I'be added several forums and Twitter which has my notifications and email and security cameras notifying me all day. So far the only thing I don't like is the crappy keyboard.
