The Note 8 has poor battery life and poor brightness, give me the Note 7!!!

I would say anecdotally that in the less than 2 days I have had my Note 8, battery life has been on par with my S8+ keeping in mind that the battery has not even properly settled yet. So, no complaints here.

Cheers,

Living La Vida Note.. ;)

What is the settled in time? I'm at 84% and I took it off the charger at 9am this morning and it's 1:20 pm now. Is that good or bad?

According to displaymate it's the brightest one they have tested. But maybe they don't test them all

Yeah, DisplayMate... the leading, Display Testing Lab in the world - but, maybe they don't test them all!

Honestly over the years, I've come to refuse to look at PhoneArena reviews. They say always say something different from everybody else. Plus Displaymate is a more reliable source of display quality measurements than they are.

Plus displaymate is showing very different readings, with the Note 8 better than the 7 in almost every category.

One review says the battery life is good, and then everyone dogpiles. One person's usage is different from another person's usage. Someone may only get "ok" battery life on their Note 8 while someone else gets great battery life. It depends upon a number of factors.

Me, I won't know anything about the Note 8's battery life until I pick mine up in store next Friday, 9/15. :|

Nope, because most reviews not named phonearena base their battery ratings on standardized tests. So even if their ways of testing are different, if the test is standard for all phones they reviewed, then they should all have the same results with respect to their standardized ratings.

Well, it takes some time for the battery to kind of get worn in (like when you get a new pair of shoes, you have to wear them for a while before they are broken in and comfortable) There is a bunch of software on the newest phones running in the background that examines our usage and tries to optimize battery performance, it needs time to lean usage patterns and then tune things for best performance. Look at your battery usage screen it even says that the estimated battery life if based on your past 7 days of usage. So, even if you got your Note 8 on Wednesday the phone has only had 2 days of usage data to look at. give it some time then you are likely to be able to get a true feel for your battery performance. then you can adjust settings up or down in terms of your particular usage.

I was at 64% from 5:30am till 1pm. I decided to put it back on the charger but that is with heavy use that I would consider. Multiple phone calls, text, FB and many other things.

And to add insult to injury, the old technology iPhone camera beat the Note 8!!!!
https://www.phonearena.com/news/Gal...-Plus-camera-comparison-portrait-mode_id97814

I read that before you posted this, it's simply the authors opinion that the portrait mode works better on iPhone, it's not that the iPhone had a better camera in general. They just nailed the software trick better in that authors eyes, on a website known for favoring Apple. Looking at the samples, iPhone did do better in some, Note 8 better on others, and I don't agree with the author on each image.

Battery life is too subjective. Own personal comparisons are the only ones that really count.

One review said over six hours screen time, which is fantastic - regardless of usage.

When I gave up the last night and tonight, it had 16 hrs with another 5+ projected...screen is very bright
