The Official Battery Life Thread

I think it might be helpful for everyone reporting either great or poor battery life to also to list how they have their phone set up in general (what's running/syncing or not etc.) It's frustrating to read someone gets 20 hours only to find out later that the phone was asleep for 12 of those hours! Seems some folks are getting great life, others pretty bad (I'm in the middle, leaning towards bad). But again without knowing how people have their phones set up it's really hard for this to be a helpful discussion.

I noticed that 3G seemed to be eating my battery away, today I left it on my works wifi network and it behaved much better terms of consumption. I will try this again today again to confirm but if this if the case I will need to purchase a charger and extra battery for the days I don't have wifi access.

It seems I'm losing about 1% for every 2-3 minutes of constant usage (playing Words w/ Friends for example). This seems like a lot to me. Is it normal?

For me the life is about 30% better than the evo. If you keep a charger handy it's not a big issue. I'm hoping when custom roms launch we'll be able to get the 2 day life that my buddy's N1 gets.

what is your battery life on your evo 3d?

How is your guys battery life? What all do you run? What are some tips? This is important for me to know now because we don't have root yet and I can't rely on UNDERclocking. Thanks alot!

I highly recommend going to "about phone" and checking your "battery use." The best thing is probably to monitor which programs are draining the most juice. I think everyone's usage is too different.

I'm getting about 22 hours on mine with 4g off, wifi on at home,. Normal syncing of about 6 programs and med to heavy use. Make sure u condition your battery first! (do a search on how to do that)

I got the trent IMP50D battery pack to help, just an external battery but nice because it charges by usb and can charge 2 devices at once, one higher speed than the other.. but best part is the size of it is smaller than an evo3d, i might get a 2nd one for really long travels without power.

I wanted to give it some time, but yesterday I went 8 hours with bluetooth, pandora and 4g all on at work. Turned my headset off when i left but used pandora on the way home. I did not have to charge until about 8pm. Took it off the charger at 5 am. No phone calls but texts and various apps doing their thing. I'm good if it can go all day like that.

Took my E3D off the charger around 10am. Been on wifi since then a few FB updates two phone calls one about 30 min downloads from Drop Box 3:41pm now batt is down to 60%.

I keep the screen brightness to 25% indoors I keep the brightness widget on 1st screen so I canremember to turn it down. All data sync has been off.

Today I played 18 holes of golf with the gps app on every shot. With the 4000mAh battery, I had 50% used and the same remaining. Juice Defender is set to balanced. Weather apps running in background alerts. Screen was at max. Temperature was 96. Teed off at 8 and ended at 12:20.

Good thing I have the big battery.

My battery life has been outstanding, and I have numerous apps updating as frequently as possible. As was the case with the EVO4G, fringe signal areas, 4G, and GPS are the biggest battery eaters.

Thats because Sansung uses a less powerful charger than HTC... HTC uses a 1 Amp where as Samsung use .75 Amp

This is not true. Even with the same charger, the Nexus S takes twice as long as my Evo to charge.

Not sure how you accomplished this but i'd be happy if I had this performance too. I have a 15 minute ride on a train to work and I use pandora during this time, I have GPS off and I browse the web doing this time but by the time I get to work I have lost 20% of battery usage. I will exchange mine and see if it helps otherwise I will have to live with a charger next to me. Not to be a troll but I never have had good battery experience with any of the Android phones I have had so not expecting much from this either.

I probably run through 75% of my battery in a day's use. I'm a heavy user. Some minor charges here and there.

I just replaced my first 3D for a second yesterday. After first charge to 100% I wanted to condition the battery and run it down to 10% with medium usage I went 30 hours on the charge. I used some 4g and navigation today since I drove 500 miles and wifi when at home. I was floored since the first one I could only pull 13 hours out of it. I will see how it goes after this next charge.

Lord Have mercy. I had a total of 3 total pres, and my wife 2. The hardware was terrible. Got the EVO 3D today. It will take me a while to get the hang of things. However the basic stuff like email and messaging seems far better.

How did you get them to exchange it? Did you just tell them it had poor battery life or were there other problems with it?

My battery life has been impressive. Coming from my og evo, which was rooted, i am getting comparable battery life. This past charge, mostly wifi, several calls, lots of text, some web browsing. 1day, 18 hours and change to 2% when I put it on the charger. Regular, mostly 3g use days are still closer to 24 hours. Same usage on my evo best I saw was 43 hours and regular use days of about 18.
