The Official Battery Life Thread

100% at 8 this morning when I left home
Used Bluetooth for 45 min drive to work (on phone for 30 mins of trip)
showed off 3d camera pics and video to coworkers, checked email, and such while at work
used bluetooth while driving for work for another hour, maybe 20 mins phone calls
used phone as flashlight at one of my locations with the max brightness flashlight for 15 mins
drove home 45 mins used bluetooth, calls for about 15 mins
around 6 pm, phone dropped below 15% and went into power save mode
around 7 pm, phone dropped below 10%, and I turned off mobile data
got home at 8:15 pm, still at 8%
turned Green Hornet on to kill battery, died after 15-20 mins
So, 12 1/2 hours total for the day with moderate use, probably 15% better than my Evo with standard battery

I'm getting 6 to 7 hours before I drop to 0. What am I doing wrong? I have auto screen brightness on, gps on, 2 email accounts syncing, messenger app imo.im, gtalk, and fbook running in the background, live wallpaper, lock screen animation on. pretty much everything is default. So I've been using the phone pretty heavily. Can someone help me pinpoint a solution without killing the functionality of the phone?

If your using the phone nonstop and getting 8 hours that's fantastic. I got 7 1/2 and I'm extremely happy. I could only get 3 hours out of my EVO 4G. With light use I got 33 hours. I use Juice Defender and turn screen brightness down to 35%. I also enable power efficiency and power saver. Couldn't be happier with battery life.

Just to help some people out that may be having battery trouble here are my settings... I turned off always on mobile data which is under wireless & networks-Mobile network settings- and I uncheck enable always-on mobile data.. It even states that it uses more power on some mobile networks.. Doesnt change any functionality that Ive noticed... Under accounts and sync I unchecked Stocks because I dont want it wasting my battery because its not something I need. The regular fb app sucks so I dont have that syncing either.. Facebook for htc I sync every 4 hours, as well as news, weather every 3 hours. If I want info sooner I feel I can always manually refresh. All my radios are off when not in use. Except wifi I forgot to turn it off this morning. I left home at 7:20 and it is now 10:45 and my battery is at 96% Not much use at all because im at work but I was on it for about 10 mins looking at a few things... Not bad for me..

I started using juice defender last night and I am amazed. I left my house a hour ago with a full charge. Just got to my destination and one hour later it is still a full charge. This app is great. Took a device with already good battery life and made it outstanding.

I have been pleasantly surprised by my battery so far. With my Pre I was charging my phone around lunch time to make sure I can get through the end of the day. Maybe the Pre had the bar set so low that anything better seems amazing...

So far I leave my Evo off all day...

I have live wall papers, updates every hour...basically if you looked at my settings you would assume that I was anti power saving...

I am pleased with my battery life.

took the phone off the charger around 5.30am, then turned on 4G at work around 8am, started streaming slacker radio while browsing the web throughout the day (also turned on live wallpaper), now at 1.30pm, the battery is at 15%. I think that's pretty good battery life for being on 4g. the battery should last another half hour but I brought a charger with me.

Today my battery life wasn't the best.. but I noticed that if I had HTC Twitter and FB syncing, the process for that used up quite a bit of CPU quite a bit of the time.

Ever since turning those off (I use other apps anyway) it's been great.

6 hours using juice defender with moderate use I am still at 70 percent. This app has got to be one of the greatest apps ever made lol, wow.

Cell Standby: 12h
HTC Sense: CPU Total 23min, Keep Awake 2h 47min
Phone Idle: 9h 20min
Android OS: 15min
Bluetooth: 10h 58min

I also run a live wallpaper and have brightness set on auto

I wish I had taken the numbers before I had switched off my 4G to compare with. How does this line up with everyone's use?

I got plus and you must set it up your own way. You decide what you want still running when screen is off,, everything else is shut down. Also set up anything you still want off when screen is on. Those apps will come on only of you go to them. Hard to explain everything. But it is incredible.

So yes, 14 hours and I'm at 60% battery life! I'd say I'm extremely happy.

I have brightness at 75%
I have facebook widget and twitter widget running and set to auto sync.
I've had 4G on since 5pm and it's still on.
I've made calls
Played the spiderman game for about 45 minutes on the trip home
Watched 3D youtube videos
took some 3D pictures
browsed the web

I used my phone as heavy as I would any other day of the week.

So after 14 hours and still at 60% I'm thrilled with my purchase.

Wow, that battery life kills my experience with battery life so far. I just installed Juice Defender Plus given zman's results. I'll post results tomorrow night, although I am a bit unclear on choosing the optimal settings.
