I remember the bad, slow as L, battery pulls, memory leaks.

I made the same trip. Honestly, the Storm gets a bit of a harsher rap then it deserves for a 2 year old phone IMO (assuming you have OS5 running on it), but it can't hold a candle to the X IMO. Although do plan to get a non-stock email client if you use anything but Gmail.

I only had 1 replacement in 2 years which isnt bad really. It's a decent phone but to me hasnt seemed to keep up with the times. Though the refreshed Storm 3 is rumored to come out in fall.

And yes, it is much better after I put OS5 on it.

Though the stock gmail client does lack copy and paste...

And I thought I was the only one who missed that. Copy and paste is actually pretty bad on android.

Most people have addressed some of the OP's original points.

1. But I do have to agree that although the FB app is better, I almost never get notifications from it. Not that it's that huge of a deal since I check FB frequently anyway, but it'd be nice. For some reason though, my BB Tour didn't notify always either though.

5 & 6. I do really wish that apps were closed stayed closed. I hate that some apps open on their own doing whatever, like City ID, which is like Bloatware to me. Why can't I delete the app? Or I hide it at the minimum? It and things like the Blockbuster app just take up garbage space.

I'm still using the Tour, I have to wait about a month before I can upgrade.

I was curious if the startup time for the DX is about the same, or faster than the 8+ minutes the Tour takes to start?

I don't know if it has already been answered, but it's a ridiculously fast start up on the DX.

Such a good thing coming from a blackberry.

Any old BlackberryForums folks in here?!??? Hello!
Formerly XelhaBB here coming from my Blackberry Storm 9530. I was once well accepted and became a forum pariah after announcing my impending switch to DROID X.

Well I am now assimilated and LOVING IT BABY!!!

My guess is Blackberry will rest on their laurels and Storm III will be released with a flawed OS and battery pull weaknesses.

Loved my Blackberry and it will always have a place in my heart but there is simply no competition. The Droid X is light years ahead and I suspect the Storm III will be a weak attempt at keeping pace with a touchscreen market that is light years ahead. I also played with O/S 6 for Blackberry and its rather parochial in comparison to the Droid 2.1 platform. That was definitely a weak and half hearted attempt to appease the few Storm holdouts.

Pattern lock is built in to the OS. Check under location & security. You have to enable it.

Nope, drag and drop, basically like a usb drive when it comes to transferring files

Let me help all of you guys that want notifications... Try Bloo 1.5 for facebook... It gives you notifications and chat is available as well... Hope this helps you guys...

This is NOT in the market yet... It is beta and will release soon... Only 1.4 is in the market.. This app has to be side loaded...

yes you can use that thread but seeing as this is a motorola x thread, you can do the same thing with only your phone. that thread and program was designed because of AT&T's restricted phones. AT&T has it so that all of their phones can not install apps that are not in the market. that is not a problem for anybody who is on Verizon.
