The Official: I have my Gear S thread! Reviews, etc.

AT&T typically don't charge you for unlock but you do need to meet their requirements.

Your Note 2 is in the compatible device list. And yes, you will need to pair to your phone in order to activate and install apps.

If your carrier is T-Mobile, you may not want AT&T version as it is missing AWS band support which is still used by T-Mobile for a lot of its 3G towers.

BTW, follow this link https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...DUiwBCvdCvRA%3Fhashlink%3Dtab2&token=XKCHJaj5 on details tab for full spec on AT&T Gear S.

It lists wifi support as well. I didn't know Gear S has wifi hardware!?

Sorry, one more question. On the ATT page it says that you need a compatible phone to activate it, and to check this link: att.com/wearableslist
That's just a redirect to the Gear S product page. Right now, I only have a Note2. Will the Gear S pair with it at all, and does it need to be paired in order to activate it and in order to install apps? Sorry I have to ask this here, but I cannot find ANY info anywhere about this!

Somethung else I can't find is a link to the Tizen app store. I am trying to find out if there is an Audible and Overdrive app, since I like to listen to audiobooks when I go running. I google searched myself stupid and am no closer to an answer, so hope you can point me in the right direction.

from i read on samsung.com you dont install gear manager till you get the watch. you tunr on bluetooth and NFc on you phone, tap the watch to it and then it prompts youto install gear manager.

anyone else on how to install gear manager on your phone?

Gracias!
The T-mo version, on the other hand, will work on ATT without issues? I intend to switch to H2O or Cricket in 2015.

I just placed an order with Verizon, says it will be here on Monday, could have paid $20 for Saturday delivery but I can wait a few days....I guess.

This probably is the easiest way to go. When I activated my Gear Fit, I have to search and jump through hoops to get Gear Fit Manager installed as it is not available in normal play store. You have to go to Samsung's own store using the special app on your Samsung phone.

WHAT THE HELL!!! Why is Verizon charging $349 on contract and $399 off contract when AT&T is only charging 199 on contract and 299 without? why is verizon so admn expensive. i want to buy this off contract but not for 400!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! $299 is perfect. so now do i have to buy one from t-mobile or att and have a seperate month to month plan which in the end will cost me more thant he $5 a month i will pay from verizon. WTF verizon. do you really not want to sell this watch.

They are making up for At&t over pricing the Note 4! Verizon sells it for $699 and At&t sells it for $825.
Did you check on line to see if someone sells it cheaper?

Remember you are charging both the dock and the phone at the same time

If you are charging the dock, does that mean that it has a battery to charge the watch when you can't plug it in?

It does have a battery and can also be used to give the Gear S a boost when away from USB

sent from my Galaxy s5

Samsung site now have full spec and user manuals listed for AT&T, Sprint and Verizon versions. T-Mobile version is still missing. AT&T version has only 850/1900 GSM 2G/3G/(fake)4G support. Both Verizon and Sprint versions are CDMA 800 or 850 and 1900 support only. I suspect the reason for the missing T-Mobile version is the requirement of AWS support may delayed it a little bit.

ok what the hell with verizon. they had one on hold for me at the verizon store which is the only one they got for stock today. i went there and waited an hour while the rep try to activate it. and when i was there and eamil came down from verizon to the stores saying they have having network problem are cannot activate any Gear S and they are working on it. so after an hour i left with no watch and as of now no one in the country will be getting a gear s this mornign till verizon fixes the netowrk to be able to activate them. you think they would have this worked out before launch day. WTF.

In order for any CDMA device to be activated, its ESN number must be already in the carrier database. I guess Verizon hasn't finished this step to import all its Gear S ESNs.

Picked mine up from AT&T in Peoria, AZ. They only had two one was reserved and I got the last one. Pretty impressed so far, the screen is bueatiful.

All of you that bought the phone from att, any of you aren't an ATT customer? Did they let you buy off contract for $299 and don't have to pay any monthly data plan?

I'm a tmobile customer and not sure when the stores will have them. I would like to purchase it from tmobile with the EIP plan but thinking of buying it from ATT to save the $50. And I don't really plan on using it as a separate device so not too concerned about the ATT version not compatible with tmobile 3G

According to a manager at AT&T, you can't.
