not as bad as I've seen....

Mine float around 2mbps still... On 3g. On wimax, around 8

Maybe I missed an explanation.... but exactly why are Sprint 3g speeds in many rural areas like mine in Western Colorado, now barely twice that of a 1998 55k modem dialup?

Is it because they have taken equipment off the towers, replaced with yet inop new hardware?

Mainly because it takes time to perform the upgrades. They turn one tower off, causing more traffic on the next.

Charlotte got superb 3g upgrades in advance of the DNC this week. These are speeds from inside an office building uptown. Two weeks ago my phone was unusable in the city.
