The Officially Official Verizon Rep "Source" Thread

According to Verizon the bug is that there's not enough bloat on the phone. It's basically a defective device in their eyes.

They can't figure out why there are only 3 pages of apps compared to the 5 on their bloated phones, must be a defect with the phone lol. That and how smooth it is can't be a verizon phone.

I'm very hesitant to post this.......but eff it: I talked to a store manager and he told me he received an email from corporate saying it would be launched on the 8th. So, take it for what it's worth......which is absolutely nothing.

Meh

As a software developer myself, this just gives more credence to what we like to say -- "It's not a bug, it's a feature!".

I didn't catch myself conducting a training overview of some features I coded for our UAT folks, and slipped with "... and this feature automagically recovers the deleted record.", lol.

Strange how you get used to substituting alternative words and phrases for benign ones in the course of developing software, and it becomes habitual. The UAT testers thought it was funny, even though it took me a second to realize why :)

Here is what I got from my telesales girl.

"We are still on track to announce the availability of the Galaxy Nexus by Samsung this year. We encourage you to sign up at https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...//www.verizon.com/galaxynexus/&token=XCihsyEH so you will be alerted when the phone becomes available. I promise to keep you posted when more information becomes available! "
Gee. Talk about reading straight from the script.
They must be the last ones to know anything. I would've said "really? Thanks for nothing."

Well...duh. What did you expect? What is anyone expecting when they ask Verizon about this? You'd think that people would have realized a long, long, long, long time ago that if they wanted solid information about the release of an upcoming phone, corporate is the last place to ask.

This chick I deal with at a cooperate store has been clueless for the past month but she texted me today to tell me she heard dec 8. She has been saying late this month up to this point.

Just passing along the info.

That says a lot coming from a clueless chick. I bet she loved that she could tell someone something other than "later this month".
When the clueless people start having answers, we must be close. :p

I wonder where all the reps getting their info, especially when many "store managers" and other reps say they have no idea. I doubt a company wide internal info would be inconsistent, so it only leaves us one answer: those reps heard something from forums like this, spreading it around to anxious customers, who in turn spread those words back to forums like this...

Reminds me of this xkcd comic:

That's a part of it for a minority of employees, but for a majority, that's off the mark cuz they are often inconsistent w/ training on their upcoming releases. It all hinges on a laundry list of factors from marketing decisions, simple things like, store sales figures, head start if there's several fresh hires in a given outlet, inventory volumes, regional customer demographics etc.,. It's not as cut and dry as you might think. However, they do what they do, it's done as they see fit and obviously, their strategies work w/ a successful purpose.

I think it's more of a "I missed the communication/email" type of things. Or.. " A buddy of mine at corporate told me such and such".

"XXXXXXX, Randy Randy.XXXXXXX@verizonwireless.com 8:16 AM (8 minutes ago) to me Hi Aaron, I believe it will be launched on December 5.... Thanks, Randy"

Just got this in my inbox from my company's Verizon rep who has helped me out in the past by giving me an early upgrade.

I wrote back "so you mean it will go on sale for preorder Monday?"

I will post if he replies.

Preorder on Monday would make sense if it were being released on the 8th. But I've also read that it would be a preorder on the 8th. I hope it's the former. Either way, this thing is close!

Yea this guy is a business account rep (or something along those lines) so he's at least a step up from the people who work in the stores.

This is exciting. I've never had anything resembling inside info before. :)

The real question is... is she a hotty?

Hopefully Randy with a 7-letter last name won't get into trouble :)

And thank you for sharing this info. Just keep hoping VZW upper management doesn't change their mind again like a 5-year-old.
