Geez...thanks you guys for this thread...

I cannot believe the USA Today for Tablets doesn't show up. I had to actually search for "USA Today for Tablets" to get it to show in the market.

I LOVE my Xoom....but this is the ONE thing that made me almost get an iPad 2.

If a USA Today app for iPad gets pushed into the app store, you can find it easily. I hate the unprofessional, beta, feel of this whole thing. I mean, come one already, it's not like this is the first Android tablet. If a company like USA Today makes a tablet specific app, make it worth their time by actually letting us find the damn thing.

There should be a Tablet specific area of the Market that is kept absolutely up to date and if Google needs to hire a guy to actually sit there and update the market manually by typing stuff in and uploading it, then they should do it.

Okay I found a nice one, it's called: EarthQuake!. It's optimized for tablets and looks nice and like it "belongs" on the Xoom. It has forced closed on me once but other than that it's been pretty cool. If you like keeping track of where and when earthquakes are occurring, this is the app for you. :) You can set things in settings like minimum magnitude quakes so you won't get alerted to the tiny ones, it has notifications and you can even set your location. Pretty cool app.

There absolutely should at least be a way to filter results between tablet and non-tablet apps, but I think the design direction of google is such that they're wanting devs to use one app and just have it detect and optimize (see stuff like Flixster and IMDB). This pretty much puts us as early adopters (to 3.0) at a difficult place, because very few apps have updated properly according to their specs and there are tons of "tablet only apps" out there or being developed.

Also, they should rename their "Tablet Apps" category to "Featured Tablet Apps" because that's what it seems to be.

Thanks, added!

Apparently the New York Times For Tablet app is for ...tablets. I haven't tried it though, I don't read the NYT.

The Market looks updated and is now showing more tablet apps. Go into the games section and it has/says. "Featured for Tablets - Games" and then has a few. I think this is the case for a few of the categories.

Works in:
-Communications
-Education
-Entertainment
-Finance
-Health / Fitness
-Lifestyle
-Medical
-Music / Audio
-Personalization
-Shopping
-Social
-Sports
-Travel / Local
-Weather
-Widgets

Something is still not quite right... While no doubt most of those apps work, the handful I just tested were most certainly not optimized for tablet... Just check out the "Team Coco" one under Entertainment, for example. It works just fine but forces portrait orientation and is not spaced out properly for tablet nor does it use the top activity bar featured in honeycomb apps.

The same goes with others I tested...

Looks like there is a Honeycomb large screen for Ultimate To-Do List Tablet
synchronizes with Toodledo.com / if you use a Mac this is a good way to get the to-do list on your Xoom comes with 14 day free . The web version is free.

I agree that Google needs to get a handle on this quickly. If it is left up to the developers to just check a box to make their app "for tablets" it will be a mess, and will just keep getting worse.

And for whoever mentioned this isn't the first tablet, that isn't exactly correct - this is the first device released that is Google-approved with a screen resolution over 800 x 480. There will be some ramp up time in getting apps out there. They just need to be sure they enforce standards on them before allowing them to be called Tablet or Honeycomb apps.

robo defense

Robo defense is now working great on the xoom!! It even has an enhanced graphics mode, I highly recommend this game!
