The Regular s21 Back Is Plastic

I think the plastic back is so that they don't need to release an fe addition to the series like they did with the s20 range which if you look at the pricing would fit

Now where have you been? That's been one of the biggest topics since the release lol. One of the reasons some people have been complaining about the cut backs.
I didn't know that , just the s21+ and Ultra have the glass back .

I'd like to get a look at one and see how it looks and feels.

The panel on the ultra is very pretty.

Fortunately most folks use cases, so the only one that will truly know the plastic secret will be the owner ;)

I would not be opposed to a plastic back on my Note 20 Ultra for several reasons...
1. I have heard the 'glasstic' does not feel cheap
2. I like that it is less likely to shatter if dropped - I've been using my phone with just a skin
3. It should make the phone cost less

But I get that others want that ultra premium (but fragile) glass build; I just don't care about the glass.
I still remember the early days when us Galaxy owners would make fun of the all glass iPhone that would shatter on the back when dropped.

j don't mind it either, but bear in mind while it's a lot more shatter resistant, plastic is also much easier to scratch. it's a give and take.

The plastic back on my S21 feels cheap to me, especially when you tap on it. Samsung could have used a better material IMHO. I don't really care since I always use a case with my phone. I guess it's good in the sense you don't need to worry about the glass back breaking or cracking with a phone drop.

I don't mind the plastic back on my S21 at all. Really couldn't care any less that it's not glass. It feels pretty good and doesn't flex at all when pressed. Definitely one of the things I was worried about before even ordering my phone, but I don't regret getting the base S21 at all.

Exactly my biggest concern would be the features. Still water resistant and capable of wireless charging which matters more to me. Some people need a plastic back as much as they crack their phones lol.

I missed it lol, usually all 3 were glass.

Here is the GSMArena in-depth review of the Galaxy S21 5G, that mentions the plastic back. Having said that it is plastic, it does not look hardly any different to the other two, glass, models and it has a premium matte finish that I am told, does not collect fingerprints.

Plus it comes in a range of colours that will appeal to a lot of people...

  • Phantom Violet
  • Phantom Grey
  • Phantom White
  • Phantom Pink
