[05:51] <@jcase> eng
[05:51] <@jcase> fastboot
[05:51] <@jcase> new radio
[05:51] <@jcase> current release firmware

Probably sometime tomorrow afternoon if all goes well , just letting you know things look good for yall TB'ers

Unbelievable! Root AND S-off with CWM and all on the current firmware and radio - all within 48 hours!

The devs behind Android are nothing short of amazing. Keep in mind that the Inc and EVO took forever to get S-off, and yet these wizards have pulled off the full smash in less than 2 days. I'm speechless

Well done, sirs, well done

So the OS firmware that the phone was release with can't be rooted, it has to be downgraded, so is the firmware that's rooted a older firmware?

correct but we can go back up to the newest firmware after the new root method is released

Woot Woot, thanks guys for all the hard work. Need to trim my tbolts waistline, and hopefully find me some gingerbread love.

N00b here. I've loaded hybrids a-plenty on BlackBerry and Winmo, but this is my first Android phone. Question -- if I've purchased apps like "RockBand" ( yes, I did, no judgment, please... ), how do I go about keeping apps like that if / when I root? Not sure how that works with the Android market place, or backing up the device. On berry, there were plenty of different things you could do to manually save your apps for full restores. Thanks in advance.

Apps that you've purchased are linked to your gmail account, so when you open up the market for the first time after wiping your phone (or getting a new one), they'll be listed under your "My Apps".

Once you're rooted, look into an app called Titanium Backup. It is able to back up all your apps AND THEIR DATA (high scores, settings, etc) and then you can use that to restore everything back when moving to another phone or installing a new ROM which requires you to wipe all data

Subscribed.. Waiting patiently for the 1-click root. I think I'll be rooting my Thunderbolt. It will be the first for me. :-P

Are one click root methods all that great. I have never used one. I've used abd only

Subscribed - I'm looking forward to reading the updates here. Currently the owner of a DROID X, my wife is willing to swap out so I can get a TB. I wonder what the difference in battery life will be once rooted and with a custom ROM.

Tb battery life shorter. Get an extended battery for tv. In fact I had one on the x. As well.

[Exclusive] How To Root The HTC Thunderbolt - Instructions By Team AndIRC (V1.02 2011/03/18)

3/17/2011 11:35pm

We have perm root, release tomorrow.

3/17/2011

We have write to /system on two production devices, from from the store. We do not have a working recovery yet, no release will be done until then.

A kind soul with a release Thunderbolt dropped by AndIRC tonight. Jamezelle and I were able to confirm Temp Root still works. I will be posting directions for it (nothing special, likely many ways to be done) tomorrow.

We did not have a chance to finish perm root testing before he had to hit the sack (can't blame him, its late). Hopefully we can get it tomorrow.
I would like to root my Thunderbolt but not to familar with its os. There are some things I want to do to my phone. Like the Samsung has the puzzle piece to unlock it. I would love that. To change the colors from green to something else. Any information you can provide would be helpful. Thank you.
