I've never seen a flagship phone come on the scene and evaporate so quickly. I'm old but, the Thunderbolt hung around for years. LOLOL
Unless there is a problem or a significant software update, it looks like the party's over.

Huh? It's a 1000 dollar phone. It's not like spending 15 bucks to see the new Spiderman movie where it's stayed in the top 10 and made 800 billion dollars. Sales were inevitably going to decline. We're all coming out of a pandemic, and a lot of people have other things to spend money on instead of phones every year.

It's an awesome phone, if you're an Android fan. What, precisely, does one need to see?

I think a pretty tough topic...

The S22 Ultra arguably the best flagship phone out there to represent Android. Better than Google's own Pixel I think. And then everyone is a level down.

That being said there will be excitement when the latest best Android phone comes out. But after the initial excitement and the strong sales at release, I think it's mainly the people that were in the market for a new android and they got it... and that's it. It's the people that wanted to upgrade their Android that year and they got it.

I think Apple is the "it" phone like Blackberry was the "it" phone during it's hey day. And they are grabbing all the new smartphone buyers that enter the market and I think they are keeping them. When it comes to the smartphones that the majority want, they will be it for a while. From everyone I know that have kids at the age to get their first phone, every kid wants an iPhone. Every kids friends that already have phones have iPhones. And once they are on them, they don't want to get off them. Got my daughter an iPhone when she was old enough... 6S I think. And every phone after that has been an iPhone right into college and if there is no new "Apple" to knock them off like they did Blackberry, I don't see it changing in the near future.

Android may be the top selling phone over iOS but the bulk of it is cheap phones but they are not gaining market share in the "premium" space. They are not taking away from iPhone users. They are grabbing other Android users and it's getting tougher cause even though I said Samsung may have the best androids, the other android manuafacturers... the chinese ones are gaining shares and selling more Android phones each year. Explains why Samsung continue to struggle to sell less of their S-Series phones year over year.

Absolutely. My Note 10+ quit charging wireless months ago. Since I used it daily as an alarm clock, plugging it in each evening was a chore. Did I mention I'll be 65 years old this year? I used to wind up my alarm clock, set my digital clock and set my clock radio... Anyway... I've worked in cutting edge technology for forty years (How old are you?). I used to dread new technology since it was dumped on me all at once and I had to figure it out. But new phones are a racquet. They lure us in like credit card companies. We are tethered to new technologies like a moth to the flame. Then we spend years looking at a screen, being brainwashed, and missing out on the beauty all around us. Never thought I'd say that, but it's true. I'm sad to say, a month in and we are looking forward to the next "drug", "fix". All the while, Google is tracking our every move, watching our every click, listening to our every conversation.

Well, I will say I'm a gen X'er so grew up with rotary dialed phones, cassette players and VHS players and first computer was an Apple //e when I was a teen. We're living with tech we could only dream about and see watching Star Trek. Finally to be able to utilize all the tech obtained from "research" held in Area 51. Amazing times we're in ;)

How has it "evaporated" as you put it? Did it not sell well? I haven't seen any sales numbers so I don't know.

I think there's still plenty buzz about the S22 - it's still all over Youtube, and certainly as much buzz as any other phone almost 2 months in.

Funny thing about technology.. For years people wanted the future to be this amazing work where things were done for you at your beck and call, robots will serve you.. cars will drive themselves, life will be so easy because computers will know what I want and when I want it, etc. Then as we inch toward that utopian future, people balk at it all when asked to provide some personal information. Invasion of privacy they say. "I need them to stop tracking me on my browsers. They don't need to know my business!" But it's exactly this information that is needed in order to provide much of what we all so wanted in our dreams of an advanced future.

The S22 series has been pretty popular especially the exclusive colours (the 1TB variants have only just been delivered here in the UK over 8 weeks of waiting!)
I'd be surprised if the S22 series isn't the best selling phone ever for Samsung.

Very well said. I am surprised that we haven't seen the post of "what will the S23 bring" yet.

I grew up with pay phones, we would buy house phones and use them for years and never think of getting a new one untill it quit working, and be upset that we had to buy a new phone. Now we are like drug addicts, just with phones, and we are ok being tracked now days, heck we are even ok with censorship. Before smart phones and social media, we would have raised hell if a company tracked our every move or censored us.

AT&T S22 Ultra 5G Snapdragon 512GB this thing is a beast no lag at all get about 10hrs SOT best phone Samsung made.

I feel like there's a "drop" in phone hype a few months after release -- or even sooner. Look at the OnePlus 10 Pro. I think in time we'll see more buzz and more sales. It's Springtime now and suddenly, it'll be Back To School and there will be sales and promos and discounts! Just wait for it! Haha.

The S22 series is selling very well. I don't know what the OP is on about. Sounds like an Apple troll.

You do realize that every year they always say the Sxx is selling very well, strongest launch, presale orders, etc... ever. Then the next year they always say... they sold less Sxx than previous generation. Just saying.

But the release has come and gone, it's the best Android phone out there... it will get MKBHD award for best at the end of the year.

But an added S-Pen to the S22 is not gonna keep the hype going all year.

The focus goes to the foldables which is really the new tech for Samsung and Samsung's focus right now. It is what it is.

Is it selling well? Are here some sales numbers?

Last year the S21 series started of selling well, but then sales supposedly tanked after the initial rush. It was their lowest selling Galaxy S series phone in years.

Otherwise if OP is talking about 'hype', then that will inevitably fall off once the phone is out. The only phone that keeps people's interest post-release is the iPhone.

1st time in my life I have seen soo much waiting for a Samsung phone S22 series...
I guess it's selling really well...
old people find new ways to complain...
let's hope I don't become a nagger in my old age ...lol
