The S22 Ultra is so... March 2022.

You're the least rude, most positive person on this forum. To the point I don't even know if you're a real human or some AI experiment.....

Yeah I have to agree here. The S22U is an excellent Android phone, but the Pixel and iPhone just have better cameras imo.

The S22U camera is versatile, it can do everything you would want it to do in terms of features, but the image quality just isn't as good as the Pixel. The video is better though.

I agree that if someone is on the S20U/S21U/Note20U, then the S22U isn't worth the update. The phone really feels and performs exactly like the S21U to me. And I never use the pen so I don't find any value in that. I'd rather they remove the pen and extend the batter for slightly better battery life.

LOOL thank you! *Beep beep beeeeeeepppp...*

Been charging to 85% but think I'm going back to 100% :-\

How many are still only charging to 85% ?

I do on my N20U just because it's no big deal to me to use. Charge to 85% and I usually make it through a work day no problem and I can plug in when I sleep and I don't have to worry about charging to 100%. When I go traveling or know I have a long day offsite then I'll charge to 100%. That's with a N20U. You S22U guys probably do much better in a say with only 85%.

I've been charging to 85% purely because I am nowhere near needing to top up during the day, in fact I'm only using around 25% per day during the working week, I'm very pleased with the battery life overall.

I would dip below 20% if I charged to 85% during the day so I top it off. I use my phone alot during the day. What I don't do any more is charge my phone overnight. I did this with my N20U and def felt the battery degraded quicker keeping it toped up over night.

I'm still charging to 85% because the battery doesn't get below 40% during daytime use. I'll plop it on the wireless charger early evening to top it off.

That sounds like a wise plan! I keep thinking about buying a wireless charger. How expensive are they, and do you need to buy the one from your phone's manufacturer?

Any cheap one will do. I go with Ankar because I trust them. 10W will do for a take your time charge. $11. Can spend $20 more for 20W charger since S22 supports 15W.

Limited-time deal: Anker Wireless Charger, 313 Wireless Charger (Pad), Qi-Certified 10W Max for iPhone 12/12 Pro/12 mini/12 Pro Max, SE 2020, 11, AirPods (No AC Adapter, Not Compatible with MagSafe Magnetic Charging) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07THHQMH...ag=hawk-future-20&ascsubtag=UUacUvbUpU7062070

Thank you so much! I'm pretty sure we have an Anker charger at home -- I trust them too! Thank you for the link!

I've never seen a flagship phone come on the scene and evaporate so quickly. I'm old but, the Thunderbolt hung around for years. LOLOL
Unless there is a problem or a significant software update, it looks like the party's over.
Thunderbolt was a "first". I don't remember if it was the first 4G or 3G, whatever. The S22 ultra is just this year's Samsung flagship.

One reason the Thunderbolt stayed hot for year is it was easy to root and there was a huge rooting community. I felt like I HAD to root it to get the Tbolt to do what I wanted.

Modern Android flagship just work. Beautiful screens, everything works etc. No need for all the buzz.

I miss the collegiality of the Tbolt days. We really needed to help each other to figure out how to get features to function.

Nevertheless no phone I've ever owned could hold a candle to the S22 ultra.

There's another thread about the Samsung phone app vs. Google's. Anyone can download the Google dialer, but when we do that does everyone get the full spam and caller ID experience? That will work on a carrier locked S22 (on VZW the built in Samsung feature is disabled)?

I've never downloaded the Google dialer, it came pre-installed on my factory unlocked Pixels and Motos, and came with call screening/caller ID built in. I do need to research it though, because when I start using my Flip I want some kind of call screening and caller ID. My Flip is also factory unlocked, so hopefully I don't run into any carrier restrictions. It'll be running on AT&T.

On a side note my Moto Z3 Play is running on Verizon with the full Google dialer experience, call screening and caller ID, with nothing disabled.

Is it selling well? Are here some sales numbers?

Last year the S21 series started of selling well, but then sales supposedly tanked after the initial rush. It was their lowest selling Galaxy S series phone in years.

Otherwise if OP is talking about 'hype', then that will inevitably fall off once the phone is out. The only phone that keeps people's interest post-release is the iPhone.

Not sure if Samsung posts sales figures for the public until released to stock holders via communications. However, appears to be doing ok. Some article say it was selling better than the s21 and in reality, if a person has a S21U do they gain much with the S22U if they don't need the S-pen? (I can't answer since I do not have a S21U, but there were some articles stating not worth the price to upgrade.)

As for which phone will be the phone of the year, from just reading it appears it will be the S22. The OnePlus 10 appears to be a flop for numerous reasons, the Pixel 6 series....just read the reviews after a few months of review and see why that most likely will not be the phone of the year. The iPhone 14 might make it, but time will tell.

Everyone feels differently, but I looked at the S22U it felt like I'd just be giving Samsung £750 and my old phone to get basically the same phone back. Couple that with the problems the exynos version has been having and I am very happy with the choice I made to not upgrade/sidegrade.

As you say, it probably will be phone of the year, but what is its competition? It's non-existent.

Absolutely. My Note 10+ quit charging wireless months ago. Since I used it daily as an alarm clock, plugging it in each evening was a chore. Did I mention I'll be 65 years old this year? I used to wind up my alarm clock, set my digital clock and set my clock radio... Anyway... I've worked in cutting edge technology for forty years (How old are you?). I used to dread new technology since it was dumped on me all at once and I had to figure it out. But new phones are a racquet. They lure us in like credit card companies. We are tethered to new technologies like a moth to the flame. Then we spend years looking at a screen, being brainwashed, and missing out on the beauty all around us. Never thought I'd say that, but it's true. I'm sad to say, a month in and we are looking forward to the next "drug", "fix". All the while, Google is tracking our every move, watching our every click, listening to our every conversation.

And yet...Here you are lol, after begging about all the clocks you wound and plugged in, COMPLAINING that you had to plug in your N10. Hmmmm.....
