The S8 is the smoothest Android interface I've ever used. Thoughts?

And as someone who owned both and used them side by side I completely disagree with everything you said.

The G6 never once lagged on me and as a matter of fact could play mlb 9 innings without dropping frames. My S8 cannot do that and my S8+ could not do that. After 4 innings it starts to drop off. The only advantage I have found with the 835 is it runs cooler and is better on battery. Other than that, there is zero difference in real world usage.

Newer does not always mean better. Pick up a pixel and tell me the S8 runs better without laughing at that statement.

I disagree with you disagreeing with me!! So there.

Just one thought - no it's not. :)
I measure most androids up against the Nexus 6p which was one smooth device. Although I've not used the Pixel I have seen enough reviews and read enough articles to know the 6p to be quite similar to the Pixel. So even the S8 is just as smooth if not smoother. That's my take on it and sounds to be mixed feelings about that.

How many of you are rolling without a case like I am most of the time. Anyone got a skin for their S8?

How many are using a stylus on their S8. I've got the pencil by 53 and it works good on paper app. Probably even better on the plus model. I guess that is why a lot will move to the note 8 for the stylus. I do have interest in the note 8 myself but I'm loving my S8 so much it'll be hard to give it up.

I like the S8, still upset that a NON Curved Version wasn't made though.
I use an Otterbox Defender, because I am more worried about protecting my 800 device, than getting attention from it.
I also use a generic tempered Glass Screen Protector with it. I refuse to spend the ungodly prices for name brand that does the same as my buy 2 get 1 free on ebay for 15 bucks. That's what I have used on the last 3 of my devices and they have never failed me.

I love the new TW but gotta admit I installed Nova and am having a very hard time going back. It's just smoother in my experience (not to mention more customizable).

I've tested a lot of phones this year.

The Galaxy S8's UI is a significant improvement over past iterations and performs well for the most part. However, it still does tend to chafe and hiccup a little after sustained use. Samsung's skin is still on the heavy side, with lots of additions laid on top of Android itself.

It performs fine for most people, but once you use a phone like a Pixel, U11 or even a OnePlus 5, it does feel a little sluggish at times.

To Samsung's credit, it's much better than before, although perhaps it's time that Samsung pulls another S6 and focuses on UI performance.

Give it 1-2 years. After the 3rd year, updates will roll out and slow down the phone. Just take a look at the past galaxies for example.

That's every phone. iPhones included. Who the heck keeps a phone for 3 years??????

Well, that's what happens when a phone ages.

However, with new hardware, slowdowns over time should be much less prevalent, especially since UFS storage is a thing.

Which tempered glass do you use? I want to try one buy I've read they all don't stay down well. So I've got a liquid skin on mine. Which did you get?

I use a lot of flagships and Saumsung UX is my least preferred which stutters the most and lags here and there. It's improved a lot in S8 compared to S7 so that's good sign.

Based on my usage of phones I owned, here is what I prefer in terms of buttery smooth performance. This just takes UX perf and not features, other advantages phones have in other areas.

1. iPhone 7 Plus/Pixel XL
2. Xperia XZ premium
3. One Plus 5
4. U11
5. S8+
6. G6 (my least preferred)

I haven't used flagship Moto phones but have G5 plus and based on how well that performs that will sit near OP5, U11 etc.
