The Soak Test Begins....

Using the House of Bionic to downgrade you to 905 will restore everything to stock. Any custom modifications you've made will be wiped out. There is something I want both of you to understand, however. And this is important. DO NOT try to return to 905 while keeping your data. Once on ICS, your system data has been upgraded in such a way as to make it incompatible with 905. If you simply downgrade using the 905 FXZ KEEP DATA option in the HoB, you're going to cause more problems for yourself than you care to deal with. Backup your apps with Rom Toolbox Pro or TiBU, do a 905 FXZ FULL with the HoB, then restore *APPS AND APP DATA ONLY*. If you fail to heed my advice on this and have system stability problems down the road, well, know you've been warned. :)

I know too well in regards to not doing the .905 keep data option, had a bricked phone over the weekend.. not fun let me tell you lol

It seems like the logical choice is just to go right to the 247 leak which since it will be Ota no point in going back to 905 just to accept the Verizon Ota update. Going from 232 to 247 with hob does not impact your apps/data correct no losses there?

I may come off sounding borderline psychotic with all my warnings, but, people need to understand that as the author of the House of Bionic serving well over 1200 people, I've seen a lot of....."inexperience". And worse I've seen that combined with a downright apathetic approach to doing things with their phone. You tell them to read before doing, and you get an almost "how DARE you tell me to read anything before I do something" attitude back. And 15 minutes later they're asking you things like "my phone boots to AP Fastboot and has an error. How do I fix that?" And then you start to see me give smart@$$ responses like "I don't know, perhaps that menu option that says Repair AP Fastboot ERROR could be handy in a situation like this?" The problem with this situation...going back to GB from ICS and keeping data....is that it's subtle. It MIGHT work. Or you will likely see errors that you think are "OMGZ PONIES GB SUCKS!" but are in fact caused by corrupt system data making your life a living hell. I wrote the HoB based on principles that preserve your data when possible. This is not one the scenarios I wanted to add. People asked me to. And they got my warnings...and ignored them. So, if I sound rather vocal about my advice.....just know it comes from a place of trying to keep you out of trouble.

We don't know for a FACT that 247 will be OTA. I'm personally convinced with the evidence I've seen that it will be, but, if you're looking for guarantees about that, you'll find none here. That being said, I'm on 247. ;) And yes, the HoB can move you forward without corrupting your data. If you have existing corrupt data, this won't fix it. Meaning people who have problems with their phone and are looking to "update to fix it" are just bringing their problems to a new build. But if you're rock solid you'll be fine going forward.

Ok thanks samurai you have always been more then helpful and all you hard work is really appreciated. I am on 232 and other then being unhappy with the downgrade in battery life I will stick it out and wait till the Ota comes out and use the hob to upgrade to current Ota build.

Not a bad plan. I'm hoping the soak test starts on Friday with OTA next week Not that I've had anyone check today, but, I don't believe any new builds have shown up at this point so 247 is still the latest. I'd be shocked if a build newer than 247 ended up being OTA. Less shocked, but, still surprised, if a build lower than 247 become OTA.

Have you noticed any improvement with battery life from the newer builds. I got great battery life on gb with my extended battery once I went to 232 I saw my battery life take a nose dive. It is comparable to being on a stock battery that's how quick the 4g eats my battery. Is this because ics utilizing both cores?

232 still had a lot of debugging code in it. It wasn't a prime time build. You'll note that the security was increased in 235 which is where they started seriously looking at candidate builds for release. Since 232 (which I ran for what, a week or 2 when it came out? We've had _11_ ICS builds), they've had NUMEROUS builds that have improved each time. 247 is rock solid with insane battery life if you take the time to freeze some useless crapware. I changed my governor to hotplug recently and I get even better battery life. My quadrant score is hovering around 3205.

And people wonder why I say things like "why did I bother writing a FAQ".... :D It's, um, in my FAQ. :D

Thanks Samuri appreciate the help.

No problem. But definitely read thoroughly before using the House of Bionic. I tend to get annoyed and frustrated with people who ask me questions that are blatantly answered in the FAQ. With over 1200 users having to repeat all the same information gets tiring. That's not to say if there's a point you need help or clarification on that you should be afraid to ask. "I read in the FAQ that....but I'm unclear on..." are perfectly acceptable and I encourage. However, "I downloaded your files...now what" will set me off like there's no tomorrow. I'm completely willing to help as I've made abundantly clear over the months. But I'm not willing to hand hold someone who doesn't bother to even read the 2 posts I've put together with all the basic info.

Sam thanks for the reply to my pm. I know I will need to root to restore my app data, but I believe I read that if your rooted you can't get the soak test. Do you know if there is any truth to that? And if so, if I root and then unroot after restoring will that still exclude me from the soak?

The reason they say no root is they don't want to support people who aren't entirely stock. It will install fine with root. Or if you are worried, root, restore your apps, and use SuperSU from the market to fully uninstall root when you're done.

Hello fellow bionic peeps! I am new to forums and technology in general but am learning at a snails pace! I first learned my bionic should have been a good phone and potentially could be if the update goes through! I have read and read about flashing my phone to 247 and would do it soon if it doesnt happen but I can hold off one more month if I have to? So my Question is where do I find the safest uncorrupt file? I have looked in hob in this forum and others and I cannot find the link and the other forum that had it comes up 905? Sorry for the question but want to make sure if I have to do it myself which scares the outta me because I am computer ed and have no source of help if something goes wrong like it did with petes on click root months ago lol

Yes, that's what I've been saying, BUT, there's a problem with that theory. Let's hope it pans out but they sent out more invite emails today and no one's gotten a confirmation email. So we'll see what happens Friday afternoon and whether we see reports of people getting confirmation emails and soak builds pushed. And it'll be interesting to see what build it's going to be. Reports are that moto hasn't decided yet. 246 or 247...
