The Soak Test Begins....

I've confirmed that the leak I use for the HoB is the same as what's being pushed out now. We're good and back on the ota path.

Sweet.. Can't wait. Hoping this fixes my 4g issues. Thought its was interesting that when I checked for the update it said "update not available yet" instead of the usual "your system is up to date"

Ok...so first thing I don't like about the new OS, I can't seem to turn off 4G. Under mobile network settings the option for network mode is grayed out, you can't choose just CDMA. It looks as though it's permantly stuck on LTE/CDMA. Anybody else notice this, or have a work around on how to change it to just CDMA?

That's been consistent through all the ICS builds. There's a long command somewhere to do it, but, it's been disabled for whatever reason.

Thanks Samuri, I've recently been reading all your info, and even as someone who didn't use your HOB, I thank you for your efforts. It was educating to read the info you've compiled.

As far as the issue of not being able to turn off 4G, man that really sucks, with my extended battery and 4G off all the time, I'm able to sometimes go 3 days before a recharge. I'm sure battery life will suffer now....grrr, oh well, overall the new OS is nice though...

If I run across that info again I'll add it to my HoB FAQ. I'll see what I can find for you. I KNOW it can be done as people have done it. It's not straight forward.

You don't HAVE to do anything. If you want to remain off the OTA path by sticking with a leak, be my guest. :) But the HoB isn't going to support 247 anymore. I pulled that support once the OTA version was confirmed by VZW.

I'm curious what your reasoning is for pulling support for 247 in HOB after the OTA was announced as 246? Seems like the whole point of HOB is to support unsupported versions of code. :)

Only until the next OTA. Being off the OTA after it's released is not wise. The House of Bionic was created to move us between leaks without data loss. But, the whole idea was that one of those leaks would end up being OTA so that we could get back on the OTA path, as well. Given the security constraints in the new ICS builds, it just makes no sense to stay off the OTA path now that the new build is out. All future leaks will be installed on 246, not 247. So what's the BENEFIT of staying on 247 at this point other than laziness of not wanting to spend the 30 minutes it takes to downgrade? Functionality wise, 246 and 247 are identical. Except one is OTA and the other isn't.

Yeah I noticed other ICS devices are the same way, that really sucks. If anyone figures out how to toggle between 4g/3g please let us know.

Edit: Sam, you are too quick! LOL

I use an app called "phone info" that takes you to the same page to be able to turn lte off.

Samuri, thank you!

specularius...I also had an app called LTE switch that was basically a shortcut to the settings menu. This no longer works though because you're not allowed to change the setting anymore. Does your app do something different?

Edit:
Found the app. Hell yea, it does that shortcut all by itself. Thanks to both of you!

Theoretically, if someone were going to attempt to get the phone to run JB, it may behoove them to have 247 running on their device with the help of HOB. It would assist in facilitating the process based on the patch that is installed, if I understand it correctly. Personally, I never moved off of the OTA path, so I really don't have a dog in the fight. I was just curious as to your reasoning. Thanks!

That logic is now flawed, though. Since 246 is the OTA, not 247, then either 246 has the JB patch in it (cough cough ;)) or they will have to put out a new patch anyway. Either way, 247 is dead and completely unsupported. There's no benefit at all from running it. Hence I pulled support for it and have told everyone to revert to 246 so they can get all future updates. Whether they take my advice or not...up to them. They just won't get support from me if they don't.

I downgraded from 247 to 246 using hob easy as pie. Let's just hope that the bionic is not forgotten again and 246 is not the last update we will see for us.

That I can't tell you with any certainty. But one would think given Punit Soni's statements that we're not done yet. We shall have to wait and see.

At the risk of perpetuating an Internet slap-fight, I was talking about a community effort to get the phone to JB and not an official Verizon release. At any rate, thanks for your efforts - keep on keepin' on!

is the 246 leak the same as the OTA? so if I download 246 leak and run HoB....i would match everyone that installs OTA? im running .2233 right now

AH, I misunderstood. Even then, however, developers don't like using non-OTA builds due to the fact that if a rom bricks a phone they want you to be able to recover with an FXZ. For which there won't be one for 247. Same logic applies. Off the OTA path == bad.
