"The Verge" Confirms VZW Apps Preloaded & Other Details

My vzw has been around along time since back in my BBS days since before the government got involved.
If u don't set up the app then its pointless and doesn't help the consumer.

Maybe with it installed verizon reps will push it harder to get you to set it up when you buy your phone? But if they do not then I agree with you, just another wasted app.

I have a couple phones there is no backup support no no SD no sim no bt.I have to write each context down b hand or take to vzw. The joys of 4 year old dumb phones.
SIM card, SD Card, bluetooth transfer, usb. There are probably more but thats what I can think of as of now.

I'm sure it must have been some sort of compromise to get those 2 apps on there.

Who cares though, it's 2 apps that can be removed if needed. Still doesn't detract from the overall experience.

I can't wait :D

Biggest gripe I hear is the screen to big and no physical keyboard.the D4 is perfect a top tier topped spec phone that is four inch screen keyboard and lte. That's a win win for alot folks
eh idk about the screen. I know it is different than the razr but the razr screen isn't anything special. Plus I think once the nexus is out and people see it, it may sway some average consumers to buy it.

I don't really know what a "pure google experience is" All I know is I want a phone that does not have a OEM skin like my current OG Droid...which also has developers options that I have never even used. With the Gn I might look into them but I just want a phone without an OEM skin to slow it down...that's pure enough for me.

Don't really care about my Verizon backup because I backup to my PC and use Google contacts and mail.

MY Verizon:

I posted this info on another thread:

My Verizon shows data usage. I read an article in the newspaper saying that the USA Fed gov. threatened the carriers with regulations because they were not giving more information to customers about their data use and minutes before they exceeded their plans limits. The gov was going to create and enforce guidelines, and so then the carriers agreed to providing this info to customers. If this app is included on the phone this might be the way Verizon intends to show that they are providing this information to consumers. I'll bet you see this on every Verizon phone in the future.

Might also be the reason Google added this to Android this time around.

Where is anyone saying a gripe is it does not have a physical keyboard or is that just you? I mean if you need a physical keyboard than yeah the droid4 is the only option. Keyboards aren't that popular, if they were there would be more choices than there is.

Hell no its to small. Even though build quiltyy is way better then Samsung. I'm buying a nexi even though I'm going to dislike the shell it lives in.

I had a droid, droid2, and droid x, along with a samsung fascinate. I have never felt that because the fascinate was more plastic that it was anymore likely to break than any of my previous droids. I liked the light weight that samsung has with their devices and the screens are really nice. I am sure the nexus will feel just as solid when compared to my fascinate. I think some people just automatically think that because something is plastic that it is not as good or built as well. Wasn't it rumored that the nexus had a metal shell on the inside to help with strength?

For phones like yours cellebrite/BUA (if available) are some of the only options.

Yes those are composite (i.e. "plastic") engine components. I think your phone will be just fine

No one under 50 wants a physical keyboard. Usually it is Crackberry users who are so stuck in the 90'sfuture that they can't even imagine a phone without buttons.

I know it will be fine. It is just funny reading all the reviews that say it is not built well because it doesn't have metal or glass. Funny thing is the iphone breaks easier than all these phones yet it is considered such a high quality device. For me I'll take a device that can survive a few drops and not need a huge otterbox case to just make it feel a little more comfortable that it won't break.

agreed on all levels. I have seen way too many broken iphone screens....that is not quality to me.

Agree, it should be able to last because you will drop the phone at least once(your fault or not) and i do not want to be shelling out another $100+ for a new screen.

Friend of mine at work dropped his iPhone 4 face down on carpet from 3-4 feet up. Screen shattered like it was shot with a bullet.

I've dropped my OG Droid and Droid X countless times and neither ever cracked or broke.

I've had a friend who bumped into a corner with the iphone in his pocket and it cracked the screen. For those who say they like how the glass metal looks over plastic, this point is null and void when 60%+ is covered in a case.

is this a joke? I kinda don't believe it, and kinda do. That is just crazy!

Nope. I felt so bad for the guy. He had the phone under a month before totaling it. Apple hooked him up and replaced it though.

But yea, it absolutely shattered on carpet. We were both stunned.
