The wife destroyed her EVO, here is how the insurance works.

no my wife was getting out of a new nissan maxima, it fell approx 2.5 to 3 feet! That is all! Im guessing because there is so much screen, we will see mucho broken screens!.. I got a lot of friends with Iphones that have broken screens, this is the first Evo that ive seen, but of course they just came out, but im expecting this to be a problem. I bought the hard plastic body glove for mine and i believe that it can take falls pretty well, but i dont want to find out:)

Not sure why its taking 7 to 10 working days, all i can suggest is that you take care of it and hopefully you wont have to put up with this.

On another note my wife was using the phone to day and a piece of the screen came off and cut her chest and she was bleeding:( be careful!

Holy crap, the phone is striking back.

It might take 7-10 days due to shipping. They aren't rush shipping it by the sounds of it.

Just a heads up, they will send you the phone, but without the battery or cables, that's why they tell you to keep yours. I've used the insurance in the past and that's how it works. Even if you get a brand new one it doesn't come in the original box with all the accessories.

PS............that hurt my heart looking at that poor phone! :)

Yes, that was my experience when I used the insurance on an HTC Touch Diamond. They sent the replacement in a plain mail wrapper with no battery, no accessories.

OP: Of course, it's entirely possible that you could be sent a NEW device in OEM packaging, but I doubt it.

Let us know what you end up with.

@TheKarens: Indeed, looking at that picture made me cringe. I ordered the Amzer Silicone Skin Jelly Case.

OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That hurts :-(

I never had any problems with insurance, swapped out my Pre, BB and other phones.

She's in enough pain without any domestic violence/spousal abuse necessary. I'd have been throwing up when that happened.

i squirmed in my seat a little. glad to know the process went smooth for her to get another one. i hope that never happens to me. i'll cry like a little bitch.

One thing about TEP we are forgetting is the other half of the service... In addition to insurance you can also go into any Sprint store, and they will attempt to repair it in store, and if they cannot repair it, they will either give you a replacement right then, or overnight you a replacement, for no fee...(warranty and mechanical reasons only)
I have an Overdrive hotspot thing, and am currently on my fourth. Each time something goes wrong, i go to my local Sprint repair center/store, and they look at it, and since all the issues i've had have been software and battery related, they just gave me a new one right now the spot(after 15 minutes of looking at it)
Without TEP you have to pay a fee just for them to look at it instore(otherwise they tell you to call the manuf. See this link->> In Store Service)

Nice. I have used sprints insurance 5 times over the last 10 years and that sound about right on how things go. Its normally a refurbished phone its hard to think that only after a week that they have rebuild phones on the self. As for the shipping they offer over night for $15 more or free with a weeks waiting time. I got insurance on all 4 phones on my plan. With the last paper work I got its $100 for anything that has touch screen or a high res screen and $50 for the more basic phones. That cost come from the screen alone. I have had pagers in the past and they was only $25 to buy and $50 to replace a crack lcd. So I see the phones are the same way.

Hah. Sorry I had to laugh at that with all discussion of the glass screen.

It hurts me to see that happen to your wife's phone. Sprint's insurance is the reason why i stopped buying their phones at their corp stores and switching to best buy and getting their insurance. With Sprint, you need to have a specific insurance for them to fix your phone. If you do not have that certain insurance, then you're stuck callin the third party company they have and paying a huge down payment or buying a whole new phone.

With best buy's black tie, it's ten bucks and no matter what happens to your phone, they will fix it or replace it completely. That even covers water damage, something that sprint said they would not cover when I had my instinct. The flaw to best buy's insurance is that they have to send your phone out to their repair shop, but they do give you a temporary phone while your phone is bein fixed.

They had my Hero for a month. I got stuck with a Samsung Rant. The replacement they furnished me with after a month of waiting was defective. I was so pissed! Never again will I deal with black tie.

I had the same experience, but with Sprint and I had their top of the line insurance. That's one of the reasons why I do not mess with them anymore. I guess experiences differ, but so far I have not had a bad experience with black tie.

With my 10 years of having the sprint insurance i have never seen specific insurance. yes you have to deal with a third party and the deductible costs but what you get is a phone that will work. I have had different problems over the year even a lost phone that fell in the water at work and never had any problems getting an another phone. You pay the third party and not have to deal with sprint for problems. If you go to the sprint store for your repairs they might have some issues with your phone if they can't resolve the problem then they will tell you to call the company that handles there insured phones. Even water damage you can get a replacement. Easy as that.

no problems here from the bestbuy insurance. I was able to replace my palm pre with the evo because they aren't carrying the pre anymore

Are their companies offering good coverage for a lower price? Are their companies other than Sprint and Best Buy offering insurance? Can I add insurance to the phone from these other companies even if I bought it from Sprint?

Squaretrade does but its $6 a month and a $50 deductible for loss, water damage etc. I looked at it and decided to stick with TEP. I've only had one claim on it after my Touch Pro spent the night in a puddle in the driveway. $100 & Asurion over nighted a NIB TP2 to me. I was ecstatic!
