The wife destroyed her EVO, here is how the insurance works.

Just a heads up, they will send you the phone, but without the battery or cables, that's why they tell you to keep yours. I've used the insurance in the past and that's how it works. Even if you get a brand new one it doesn't come in the original box with all the accessories.

PS............that hurt my heart looking at that poor phone! :)

Depends on what they have in stock. if they have no refurbs they will send a new one in the retail box.

Also as an aside, if you use the website to make a claim it is even easier. no forms to fax, etc. And generally they overnight so I am guessing, as was previously speculated, they did not have any in stock.

What did her face look like after you were done with her? I'm kidding! No seriously, did you punch her?

There's the reason you've been searching as to why you're all alone.

There is never a reason over a cell phone to hit someone, but especially not your wife or any woman.

Pathetic.

I'm pretty sure YOU'RE the only pathetic one here. IT WAS A FRIGGIN JOKE! And a damn funny one too.

Holy crap he was obviously joking.

Wow, you guys are no fun. Hey whoever posted it..i laughed!

I laughed as well. It was funny, and I saw it as an obvious joke.

To the OP, thanks for posting this up, it confirms my decision to keep TEP on my EVO :)

That is basically how the Sprint service works through Asurion (I believe that is their name) Trust me after 4 Pres that is pretty much the process. Just some more info:

1) File claim with Asurion
2) Pay 100 Dollar deductible instead of 500 for new phone.
3) They send *phone* with return envelope, you keep everything (cables, battery) all they want is the phone back

*Side Note* First Pre I got back was a refurb and the keyboard was unresponsive, Called up or sent an email I forget, but they said that since it was sent defective they will send a another one with no charge.

Next phone I get was brand new and worked well until i left it on the roof of my car and drove away.

After jumping to the Evo from Pre, i know all the problems we have had with the Pre. It was a launch day Pre and at the time I decided to not get the insurance (never had have it in all my years). Well the Pre was showing signs of trouble (lost usb cover, screen cracks ect). So I decided this time just in case i'll get the TEP. Even though I have a hard case on the Evo i'm not going to take any chances.

It doesn't take much of a fall to shatter the Evo screen

I was pulling my phone out of my purse to answer a call and it slipped from my hand. It didn't seem to land very hard, so I was heart-broken to see that the entire screen was cracked.

I did have a case on the phone. It was one of the hard-sided cases from Best Buy. The ONLY damage on the case was a scuff mark right on the corner. I think that the phone will probably survive a fall unless it hits just right and there's enough shock-force trauma.

I have the Sprint TEP and the Best Buy black tie protection. (I was going to decide which one to keep after my first 30 days were up.) I decided to go with the TEP, because I would get my phone faster. Best Buy wants to send it out for repair and said it would be at least 4 weeks. From what I've seen on the internet, there is no replacement screen available, so I didn't have much faith that they'd be able to fix the phone. I also didn't think they'd just give me a new one, either.

Once Sprint has caught up in stock, you can usually get a replacement at a Sprint corporate store. At least that was my experience with Treos. Once I got a refurb with no battery, etc. Once they upgraded me from a Treo 700 to a 755P, brand new in box with all accessories.

I suspect the best cases for protection from a fall are the rubbery soft cases. It just seems like they'll give a little more than a hard case, and absorb some of the shock.

I don't know if the current soft cases would be enough. It would be nice if someone would design a case that was made of something truly shock absorbent.

I really wish that the Sprint repair center would have been able to just replace the glass on my phone. In spite of the glass being completely shattered, the phone is working perfectly. The touch sensitivity and everything is completely fine.

I know I have a perfectly good Evo, and now I'm going to have to take a chance on the replacement Evo. (I'm sure it will be fine..., but after reading all of the issues people are having, it makes me a little worried.)

Plus, it's a little unfair that I pay $100 for them to fix the screen and give it to someone else as refurbished.

My wife cracked the corner of her screen as well and the process is identical to the OP. Although they are on backorder with Sprint right now, so it'll be 5-7 days until she gets a replacement. Hers only cracked down on the search button, not on the actual screen and everything still works like a champ.
