themes and customization

It sort of worked. The icons and behavior are different, but the background didn't change.

I'll try Harmonia 2 tomorrow.

I want to say that I've had some issues with a theme, just not the ones you're describing, and it was because of a bad flash. Are you checking the MD5 sums on the ROMs (on the phone) before you flash?

I checked with the files on my PC and they matched, didn't look at the official md5 on the websites. HTTP/FTP downloads are supposed to be safe.

Downloading Harmonia 2 now.

This time it still got hung in the install although the top status bar said install was successful (don't recall seeing that before). Rebooted, went to Theme Chooser and selected ICS. Got the warning and rebooted again. And . . . nothing. Black background, icons didn't change, can't tell any difference with original H2. Might stick with H2 for awhile though.

ADD: The checksums all match with the ones posted on the websites.

ADD2: In fact shouldn't there be a background on stock H2? All I get is black. Under Theme Chooser there are two choices already there.

The stock background on H2 is black. And once you change it, I haven't figured out how to get it back.

I'm just not sure what's causing this issue for you, but I'll tell you what: I'll try to pick apart the apk for the theme, or maybe what's installed on my system, then maybe I can give you a zip with instructions to copy the files over. Or something like that.

What exactly do you mean by memory requirements? If you mean how much of the internal memory will be taken up, I think the latest build is down to about 98 MB, but there's more that hasn't been removed yet. I've tried the first three builds myself, and all the core components are working (phone calls, SMS, 3G, WiFi). The camera doesn't work yet, the keyboard needs some work, but it's pretty slick for an alpha.

Don't these phone have 512MB RAM and 512MB of internal ROM? How does ICS compare with a GB build, or with the stock VM?

In other words, will there be enough RAM to run a few apps after flashing ICS?

I am just checking into apps2sd. I just got an 8gb card and repartitioned it to 7+1 (maybe I should do 6+2?). I discovered that my PC does not recognize it at all. The stock 2gb card works fine in the PC.

BTW, I hope these phones only use sdcards as eproms, otherwise they will wear out.

Windows? And it doesn't recognize it at all, or just not the ext partition?

Not recognized in Linux or Windows. Windows doesn't do anything when I plug it in and Linux doesn't list it if I do an fdisk -l (supposed to list partitions on all attached disks). Both partitions show up on Linux if I turn on USB storage on the phone. I can even partition and format from Linux using USB.

An older Kodak camera can't read it either. Everything that can't read the card needs the adapter, but they can all see the 2gb card in the adapter.
