I ordered a Seidio Surface Innocase II and an Invisible Shield screen protector. I kept the solution away from all of the ports and my screen has splotches all over when the screen it turned on. :(

There goes $99. I have never had these problems with installing the Invisible Shield. Thank god for insurance. I'm not using another Invisible Shield ever again though.

That sucks. What is this "solution" you are talking about?

lol, hi :)

The Invisible Shield comes with a solution that you spray on the film itself. You never spray it on the device though as it will become over saturated. But I ended up with the same effect and now I have a water logged phone. It works without a hitch but the screen is full of dots that are extremely noticeable on a white background.

I personally user Phantom Skin and go to the local shop they have and let them do it for me. $19 bucks with a lifetime warranty. If it comes off, 5 bucks and they'll put it on again for you.

Best Skins Ever FTW.

Screen covers $7, full kit $9, shipping only $2 or free if you order 3

How long since you installed it? Usually, most of those blotches disappear in a day or two. Try the SGP protectors. They go on dry and are smoother than all the wet application films

The blotches are in the screen itself. I removed the protector after 12 hours and I have internal problems. Little dots and big splotches all over.

Wow sorry to hear that, I was going to get the Zagg and let Best Buy install it because im clumsy but im scared to now. Glad you had insurance :)

It seems like water can get in from every angle so I would avoid it.

ive been installing Zagg branded screen protectors on phones/laptops/tablets for over a year now and never once ruined one by "over saturating" it. im really surprised this happened, sucks to hear as well. Most of the time i spray the hell out of the screen protector and slightly wet the screen itself and i never had any problems.

sigh, I JUST ordered the Zagg during the Best Buy midnight sale last week as I didn't see too many people seem to have this sort of issue... but now I'm scared. I've applied a few InvisibleShields but almost always as outer protection, not directly to screens or anything.

I just wish I knew what a GOOD screen protector was, the stupid Verizon ones smudge any time I actually use my phone as a phone, it sounded like the InvisibleShields were the best from not getting covered in fingerprints/oils/etc. (and I am really picky about only using my phone when my hands are almost entirely clean, it just streaks like mad unless I wash my hands seconds before using it.. :/ ) Are the Steinheil ones a bit more smudge proof than the VZWs?

(and Best Skins Ever isn't really a good alternative as they need water to apply as well)

Steinheil makes several different screen protectors so I suggest you check each of them out. I believe they have a matte finish protector that is for anti-fingerprints. It's up to you with the Invisible Shield though but I'll never try that again.

I've done it on my friends iPhones, Droid X, etc. before with no issues. My Thunderbolt has what looks like camouflage and it keeps getting worse. At least the device works and everything is legible as the dots are in the background of the text. I'm surprised this installation failed so badly though and it has set me off from doing a wet install ever again. My only guess could be that the light leakage many of us see may be a sign of a faulty glass installation. Who knows.

So true, I'm not one to drop my phone ever and an extremely careful with all my expensive gadgets. I like the idea of screen protectors but they take away from the natural feel of the phone for me. Especially while using swype, I mean its not all that bad I've used my friends dx and its still smooth but I still like the phone better without one. As to the op that sucks man I actually never think about it when doing my installs (not on this phone but many others).

I never thought about it either but it happened. I'm just glad I had insurance but also pissed that it cost me $99. I'm debating putting a screen protector on the new one to go with a Seidio Surface or skip all of that and go naked. If I go naked than it sits in a nice Sena Ultra Thin Pouch that I paid for. Not like it matters, I'm determining if I like the feel of the Surface. It feels a bit bulky to me though as this phone didn't need any size increase lol.
