There's a storm brewing...

I'm sure you all do the same thing but I was checking the HTC and verizon sites and every time I see this sentence on HTC I find it ironic. "The wait is over." Lol. suuuuure. . . .

you talking about that system for ordering the iPhone on the Verizon site?

I think thats for the iphone only so Apple/Verizon can talk to each others servers.

i'll do a little research to find out though

edit: nope, that slow ordering system seems to be gone now, it must have gotten too many complaints or order problems
(that is if thats what "system" you were talking about.)

Its that ordering system where they wont let you use your 1 year upgrade to buy. It was used for the Iphone, you could only use a 20 month or more upgrade.

Since you can buy any other phone on a 1 year upgrade, but not a Iphone. I dont want to wait till July for my NE2 to purchase a T-Bolt

Guys, Phil said on the podcast today that his source suggests a further delay ... but ...but .. dunno what to say :(

Too bad Bennnn and BMX are busy for tomorrow's other launch.

Cousin just told me it is running on wifi. It is AT&T.

All of this is my opinion and personal observations.....

The iPad, when it came out, had the advantage that it was basically an oversized iPod-Touch / iPhone. They had some base to lean back upon. Eventually many existing apps pulled in customizations for the iPad -- mostly higher-res graphics. Still in essence (and from what I've seen), when you code for one iPod/Pad/Phone, you code for them all -- and you can only really code apps. The iPod/iPhone aimed at taking down RIM/Blackberry -- they did.

Along comes android -- which is a Linux port under the covers. I picked up a device at JavaOne in 2000 which was one of the first embedded Java capable devices, running a stripped down Linux. In a number of ways it was the Neanderthal of Android -- but nobody big was backing it besides the open source community. This was before RIM had gotten beyond fancy pagers. The device had a stylus/touch screen, a sllide out keyboard, and you could plug in a PCMCIA wi-fi card. It was excellent -- but the development environments had not matured.

Along comes Google, and another 6-10 years of maturity and the rest is history.

What I'm getting at is that if you look at the history of Apple, and the history of its competition, you may see parallels. Apple had its hey-day back in the 90's with the early Mac's. They were cool machines, but they were too expensive and they just didn't have the flexibility to handle all the cool-neat stuff that would come out -- nor could they keep up with the explosion in hardware capabilities (closed architecture). (Anyone else remember how you had to smack them just right on the left side to get them to stop squealing?)

It's happening again, but were still in the early stages. Nvidia, Qualcomm, and others are starting to explode the hardware capabilities of the android architecture -- the software is now starting to lag the advances in hardware. Apple is, once again, stable -- but in two or three years they will start to slip. I personally think they already are -- development houses are already calling them out for pursing quantity over quality, and being too rigid and controlling.

But the bellweather for me is to follow where the games are going. People play games. Sony is going android in a big way. Nvidia (home to one of the best graphics innovation houses) is behind android -- and they love games. Granted I'm a programmer by profession with 10+ years of full time java experience, but even so the android SDK was so incredibly easy that I wrote an entire game in an afternoon (and in 30 years of programming, completing a game of my own design was something I hadn't done before.) A friend of mine has been trying to write an iOS app for nine months now -- during the same weekend he got it to draw a star -- and he had to have a Mac to do it on, and pay a fee for the SDK.

So, because of this, and more, I see android as the future -- and Apple having peaked.

But, as I said above, these are just my own thoughts.....

If it goes beyond the 17th- I just don't know what I'll do. I like to play some Frank Sinatra and play those demo videos on a loop and sigh.

Haha nah but this is getting ridiculous.

I was worried about this happening. I REALLY want this phone but every time we seem to get close, it gets pulled further away. My Crapberry has done just about everything it possibly can to commit suicide and I'm afraid at one point I won't be able to revive it. I need a phone...I WANT the Thunderbolt...but the way it's looking my "want" and "need" may once again not be coinciding in a proper manner. :(

Yep, just like they did on the 24th! However, could be right only time will tell....

What did he say exactly? Is this the same source he cited about the 24th? Answer, man, ANSWERS!

Ok. I'm using an iPad to post this. Makes me consider an iPhone! What's the latest on this release date.

BLASPHEMY!!

JK... iPhone is not a bad phone. It is pretty damn good in fact (apart from some signal problems). I like iPod Touch. But for a phone I like Android phones much better. And this Thunderbolt fiasco is turning me into a madman. It is all BBY, HTC and Phil's fault. :'(:'(

I'm still willing to wait...the phone looks sooo good that i cant resist:p

Oh that, you have to go into your MyVerizon page, click "UPGRADE NOW" then it will take you to a new page (and if you have two lines, it will let you transfer an upgrade to another line of your choice, I like that since i was going to get it with my second lines upgrade and then transfer it to my main line at activation :P)

ANYWHO, 1 year upgrade worked for me, did a shopping simulation and it worked :D

I too am sick of all the speculation. Excitement, let down, excitement, let down.. now i just get angry when I hear it being pushed further back. If verizon would just give an update... "hey thunderbolt fans, we're shooting for a release date of the 17th, but it could be pushed out another couple weeks, we'll keep you updated" it would make this much easier. just my opinion.

I'm waiting as long as I can. I can't be without my phone...so when the Crapberry dies, I'll be replacing it immediately. Hopefully, I'll have a Tbolt by then and I won't be worrying. Otherwise, I may have to pick up a Dx or Dinc.

He said he did not want to write about it (like he did about 24th) but just said the source told him there could be a further delay. He did not divulge too much. And I don't blame him, since so much heat he got after the 24th did not materialize.

All the mods agreed that the phone will be out when it was ready and it was better to have a late launch with a better working phone rather than a hasty launch with a buggy phone.

Jerry joked Cory and him were scared of all of us in these threads and if he had any info on the dates he would give it to us immediately .. haha

Well, like others, i have had my fill of the "soon" talk and "one more week" talk. If the TB doesnt come out on the 17th, I will be staying with ATT and getting the Inspire. I may make an exception if a official release date has been announced by then, but if no phone or no official announcement is done by then, I'm gone. I will have a Skinomi screen protector and BB Platinum case for the TB on the cheap up for sale.
