There's a storm brewing...

Good morning!

Quick question, I usually get my phones over the phone and they are shipped to me. So I get no activation fee. If I go day one and buy the Tbolt in store will I get activation fee?
Is there a way to avoid this fee?
Activation is to easy, I don't need a $35 charge for something that takes couple mins that's easy lol.

I think the activation fee only applies if you are activating a new number (or transferring from another carrier). Verizon is the only cell carrier I've ever had and only paid an activation fee the first time- 11 years ago. If you're upgrading, I'm pretty sure there is no activation fee.

I'm only 28 and I remember doing all sorts of things to 386's. lol

EDIT: The key to finding someone in this case is making sure they know nothing of you previous computer expertise. :)

I was poking fun at myself.:p My fiance loves my geekiness. I'm "only" 42. The quotes are because I have a 1.3 K/D ratio in Modern Warfare 2 and my son (15) is 2-9 all time in Battle for the Cup (NHL11) against me. Most of my friends are more your age. I just can't relate to most people my age. That said, I've got a good job (13yrs) and my family is taken care of and my bills are paid.

Right now though I feel like an 8 year old. I want my Thunderbolt NOW. If it would help, I would honest to God walk into a Verizon store and hold my breath until they gave me one or I passed out. LOL

*Cough* 1.64 in black ops *cough*.

Besides getting a ThunderBolt, i'm thinking of a XOOM or maybe seeing what the EVO View is like since its supposed to be a 10" version of the HTC Flyer.

I have yet to try out a demo XOOM to see if i would even like it but any suggestions on what i should try out to see if i would like it on the demo ??

i've used an ipad for a brief few mins playing plants vs zombies, although i'm not really an Fruit fan...

And if you are activating a new line, you get out of it if you order online, but I think you are correct, the activation fee is only for new lines.

LOL!! In my defense, I am predisposed to the occasional "Leeroy Jenkins" moment, which does NOTHING for my K/D

Trying hard to stay on topic: I have a theory... looking back, a lot of the information that has leaked out seems to be "old" We get the 14th as a date, but shortly thereafter get a document about a delay. I'm thinking that we have been running a week or two behind all along. This would mesh with all the signs pointing to the 17th while Engadget is saying it could be 2-4 weeks away. If you believe that our "leaks" are old before we get them, then a lot of the apparent confusion over the last month makes sense.

Gosh eff verizon :(
I want the thunderbolt soooo bad.
My warranty ran out and the only way I can get another phone is if I pay the full price.
Then adding another line plus getting the htc thunderbolt will come out to about $500+

Yeah. Depends on your credit rating.

I think if you are a current VZW customer and are just adding a line they just check to make sure your account is in good standing. If you are a new VZW customer, they do the credit check to determine a deposit.

Soooo if I was to add a new line.
Would I have to do the $125 deposit?

My advice would be to go to VZW TODAY and apply for service. If I'm not mistaken, any approval they give you is good for 30 days, so you wouldn't have to open an account now, and the approval is not binding... you could choose not to get service from them. At least then you would know how many lines you could get and if a depost is required.

nah. If you add a line and sign a 2 year contract on that line, the'll give you the $300 price. They've also got lots of promotions that you just have to ask the rep about. Things like adding a line and/or buying a new phone make you eligible for stuff like buy one get one free etc... It never hurts to ask.

That's right. Unless you are a new customer, they don't check your credit as long as you are in good standing.

Again, I think you are correct. I think if you've been a customer for a while they simply look at your account record because I've been with Verizon since 2002 and I was a victim of the economy crash from August 2008 to July of 2009 so my credit isn't exactly the greatest right now and I just added another line to my account a couple of months ago and I paid absolutely nothing.

Thats right, if you want to add a line they will still check your credit first to see if you need a deposit. However there is a slim chance you will have to.
I rarely heard of it happening if you already have a main line.

I added a line to my account just to get the incredible last year :-[

so i just gave my second line to my parents for emergencies and transferred the Incredible to my main line.

Best part about having two lines is having two upgrades a year, which you can transfer to another line.

My main line isn't ready for upgrade till May, my second line has been since Feb 26, and i'll just transfer the upgrade to my main line and the May upgrade will transfer to my second line, then when i'm ready to upgrade again if something better from HTC comes out besides the Incredible 2, i'll transfer the may upgrade back to my main line again. Its simple yet sneaky :-*
