Tiered pricing will tick me off and it doesn?t make any sense either. Forget the amount of data that you download ? that doesn?t matter. What matters is the length of time of your data transfer.
If I download for 3 minutes on a 3G connection or on a 4G connection I have the same effect on the network. The 3G network gave me 10MB of data and the 4G network gave me 100 MB of data (just round numbers for arguments sake) because the network transfers data at the speed it transfers data. I eat up bandwidth while I am using it. Since I will get my data faster, I will actually be connected less and use less of their bandwidth.
In fact, from what I understand of LTE (and I am no expert) my bandwidth usage has less effect on other users than CDMA did. So why should I pay by the amount of data downloaded? I could understand paying more for being connected longer but not for how much data is transferred.
I just don't want to get buried with ridiculous overage fees.![]()
That's pretty much where I was going with my example. Thanks for the great info. I have to admit I was skeptical of you at first, and I still reserve the right to a bit of "healthy" skepticism, but if I had to bet on one or the other, I think you're on the level.
I somewhat agree. It's almost always good to keep a little bit of healthy skepticism. A major reason why I believe him is the way he has handled himself. Every other troll or supposed insider that has made BS release dates, rumors, etc had the tell-tale signs of being such. Bennnnn was patient, never returned the attacks thrown upon him, and was always consistent with showing up and giving us updates. He showed a level of maturity and professionalism that others did not. It's like when you know you're telling the truth and everybody is calling you a liar, and much worse. You just calmly and patiently sit their and maintain your story. Why, because you know you're right and you see how foolish those attacking you are being, so you don't return the attacks and remain level headed. Bennnnn has acted like that the entire time, and I like to think that that would be the exact same way I would have acted, and that, simply, has been the overwhelming reason (my #2 reason is because I wanted to believe the things he has said, but then again, the way he has acted is a major reason why I wanted to believe the things he has said) why I have put a lot of faith in what he has said. Thus far, he has been a class-act and is a good example for a lot of us on how to act/
so on the chance that we end up with tiered pricing (still hoping not) what plans would people be getting? i have an unlimited plan on my blackberry but i hardly use the data at all, only for the occasional google. i'm sure that would change if i had a tbolt and apps that used data, youtube, or google music/pandora. how much data might that use per month?
I'm not going to answer questions on tiered pricing because I'm not 100% certain of which ones will be used. We've created price models from unlimited 4G to heavily tiered, so before we all start speculating, it's best to just wait till you hear from Verizon directly. Ultimately its the CFO's decision.
well said. bad beat last night, canes fan. i was pullin for you guys. (duke fan)
Okay after reading Ben's last post I'm confused. I thought Verizon had the last say so when the TB to be released. Now its HTC?

For unlimited 4G... I think I'd pay $40, maybe even $45.
Don't admit those publicly. I don't want Verizon to see that and think it's okay. :-\
I for one dont think they are going to go crazy on the pricing. They dont want to kill the phone before its even released!
Those of us that are coming from Blackberrys we dont use data much since the BB is ****ty! So what do we do, Then you have those that are on the new Data plans were Verizon is giving you a 20.00 credit on data a month. What happens to those contracts. I think we need to see whats released and then keep an eye on your usage very closely the first month and if your getting close to going over then just up your Data plan they will do that and cover your current month to keep you from getting overages.
lol, I really just want to see unlimited as an option!
I am a bit more certain due to three reasons:
3) It's up to HTC now to finalize everything so it's their call whether it makes it or not.
This is great news....if I am reading this correctly, you are saying that BIG RED is ready to go. That the if the phone does not come out on the 17th it is not because of BIG RED. I am of the belief that you are our jem, our inside voice that nobody really has. If this turns out to be right...you really are the man. This piece of news does seem like something that will be vetted (one way or another this week)...thanks Bennnn!
